The 90-minute guided experience takes place in Te Puia, Rotorua Geothermal Park. Nestled in Te Whakarewarewa Thermal Valley, the park features the mighty Pōhutu Geyser and spurting mud pools, surrounded by dense greenery. Your knowledgeable guide will impart nuggets of information on the landscape and the Māori people that have inhabited it for centuries.
You can look closely at the prized national artifacts at the Kiwi Conservation Centre and a showcase of ancient carving and weaving techniques at the New Zealand Māori Arts and Crafts Institute. After you have witnessed experts wield wood, stone, bone, and flax, explore the handmade taonga at the center’s Āhua Gallery. As you pass through the Pikirangi Village and Rotowhio Marae, you can embrace the authenticity of the Māori lifestyle.
