Such a loving, personal, and insightful tour of this opera house and its history. Definitely worth seeing—even for children and teens. It’s pleasantly cool in the summer and very entertaining at 45 minutes. We didn’t take advantage of the 3-euro additional fee for taking photos.

The tour guide was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. I found it interesting to learn that the period in which a theater or opera house is built (naturally) has the greatest influence on the design of the auditorium (acoustics and size) as well as the lobbies and such. What we found disappointing was that, in our opinion, the tour guide lingered too long on certain topics (such as the faux-marble decor of the most elegant foyer for the king), while we would have liked much more information about the theater auditorium, the stage (which we didn’t get to see), and the world behind the scenes. That’s actually what we came for, but there was no time or opportunity for it. It all had to be rushed through. It’s a shame, because the tour guide did have a genuine enthusiasm that he could have better directed toward the parts that could have really focused on the theater, operas, composers, and orchestras.

We had a wonderful guided tour for families with children and highly recommend it. The tour was exciting, varied, and very informative. Our guide shared the history of the Semperoper with great enthusiasm and actively engaged the children throughout. We especially loved that she brought along various props to illustrate the content (for example, a conductor’s baton, ballet shoes, and snowflakes). This brought the tour to life and made it easy for the young visitors to understand. The impressive architecture, the fascinating stories, and the family-friendly design made the visit a special experience.

We had booked tickets for the guided tour of the Semper Opera House on July 31, 2026, at the very last minute. The friendly lady was very knowledgeable, the tour was very thorough, and we made good use of our time. The interior of the Semper Opera House was very beautiful and impressive.

A very good guide who explained the Semperoper through many anecdotes. Despite the construction work, we were able to tour many areas and were also glad to have a pleasant 60-minute break from the heat, as the temperature outside was 35 degrees.
