Enter through the main gate at Avenida Miguel Estefano, 3031, Água Funda. Scan your mobile ticket directly at the turnstile (No printout needed). Once you leave the garden, re-entry is not allowed.

What to expect

Jardim Botânico de São Paulo

The Botanical Garden is one of Brazil's most respected botanical gardens, set inside the Parque Estadual das Fontes do Ipiranga, a protected Atlantic Forest reserve in São Paulo's southern zone. It operates as a space for conservation, scientific research, and public connection with nature, and is a member of the Botanic Gardens Conservation International network.

Features

Fernando Costa Avenue: Start your visit on a 250-metre wooden walkway above the Pirarungaua Creek beneath towering native palms.

Ninfeias Lake: See pink, yellow, and blue water lilies spread across one of the garden's most photographed lakes.

Lineu's Garden: A Renaissance-inspired garden with pergolas, reflecting pools, and symmetrical pathways.

Atlantic Rainforest Greenhouse and orchid nursery: Discover native rainforest species and orchid collections from across Brazil. Open weekends and public holidays from 10am to 4pm.

Cerrado Greenhouse: Currently temporarily closed.

Garden of the Senses and Bamboo Tunnel: Walk through aromatic plants before entering a towering bamboo corridor that blocks out much of the city's noise.

Pau-Brasil Grove: See the endangered tree species that gave Brazil its name, preserved here since 1979.

Nascente Trail: Follow a 360-metre accessible trail leading to the spring of the Pirarungaua Creek.

Terra Batida Trail: Take a 1.5km forest trail linking the Bamboo Tunnel, native woodland, and a scenic lookout point.

Hidrofitotério: A 1947 aquatic garden with 80 plant compartments, located furthest into the grounds and missed by most visitors.

Restaurante Bromélia Gastronomia: On-site dining open daily, 11:30am to 5pm for meals and 9am to 5pm for café service.

What is not allowed

Re-entry is not permitted after leaving the garden on the same day.

Bicycles, tricycles, balls, musical instruments, sound systems, laser devices, and similar equipment are prohibited.

Pets are not allowed, except guide dogs on duty.

Food, drinks, smoking, and picking of plants are prohibited inside the greenhouses, museum, and trekking trails.

Barbecues and fires are not permitted anywhere in the garden.

Accessibility

Most visitor routes include ramps and accessible restrooms.

Accessible water fountains are available throughout the garden.

While the Nascente Trail is accessible for visitors with reduced mobility, the Terra Batida Trail is not, due to uneven slopes.

The Botanical Museum has access ramps.

Additional information

Weekdays open 9am to 5pm, last entry 4pm. Weekends and holidays open 9am to 6pm, last entry 5pm.

The Atlantic Rainforest Greenhouse, Botanical Museum, and orchid nursery open only on weekends and holidays, 10am to 4pm.

The Cerrado Greenhouse is currently temporarily closed.

The annual pass is valid for 12 months from the date of purchase. Entry is permitted once per day only.

The pass is nominal and non-transferable.

Pass holders receive a 20% guest discount on the same-day visit and 20% off at Zoo São Paulo restaurants.

Picnic gatherings of up to 20 people are permitted in designated areas.

Restaurante Bromélia Gastronomia is available on site, open daily 11:30am to 5pm for meals and 9am to 5pm for café service.

No lockers or luggage storage facilities are available on site.

An adult must accompany children under 12.
