It was a great tour with a FANTASTIC host! Lots of fun info. Her accent wasn’t too strong that native English speakers would have any difficulties understanding. Her interest and passion for the Catacombs was easy to see which made for a better experience. The only issue I have is the booking processs. Rather than start out an email with “we cannot fit you at the 5 PM time...” say “we rescheduled you to the 4:45 PM time.” 15 minutes really won’t make a difference to most people. I missed the second part of the email where you reordered to reschedule us 15 minutes earlier until he next day. I was SO upset and bummed out! But when I saw that it was still an option to go (just 15 minutes earlier) I was elated! Try rescheduling people for minor time changes with the option to cancel rather than telling them “too bad, it’s overbooked” to begin with. Again, FANTASTIC tour and host! I cannot day enough great things about our host! She’s worth every penny and more.

Believe it or not, the priority access guided tour really helps. There's a surplus of crowd during this season and this pass helps avoid all of it.

At the entrance, there is a warning of visitors about entering the empire of the dead, which is creepy, but the Catacombs is the most fascinating place I've seen.

Paris is full of mysteries and Catacombs is one of the best one. The walls lined with skulls makes a great sight. Do visit it.
  • The eerie stories!

Beneath the bustling streets of Paris lies a subterranean world holding the remains of over 6 million Parisians. Explore 2 km of underground tunnels and travel back to 18th-century Paris. The Catacombs of Paris are a grim yet beautiful reminder of the city’s important history.

As a way to combat overflowing cemeteries during the Middle Ages, the capitol decided to transform its mines into an underground burial site. Gradually, the city relocated millions of dead bodies to a complex series of interconnected tunnels and rooms, creating a massive 300km stretch of ossuary that has shaped the Paris we know today.

From the role the Catacombs played in the French Revolution and Hitler’s regime to the impact this network of underground tunnels continues to have on the city, explore over 2,000 years of Parisian history in this incredible tour. Since the day they were created, the mysterious ossuaries aroused curiosity, and they continue to do so today.

What to expect on your Paris Catacombs - Priority Access Guided Tour

On the day of your experience, head to the meeting point, located right in front of the Cafe Oz, at the exit of the Denfert Rochereau Metro station, and meet your tour guide. Avoid the hassle of waiting in a long queue as you walk straight through the entrance. Your professional guide will then lead you 20 meters (65 feet) underground, into one of the city’s most enticing attractions.

Be greeted by a doorway with a plaque that warns “Arrête, c'est ici l'empire de la Mort”, “Stop, this is the empire of the dead”. But don’t let that deter you; your adventure has only just begun. Wander past walls lined with skulls and bones as your guide leads you through a 2km, one-way stretch of the ossuary. Explore the ancient world of Paris while listening to stories of the Catacomb’s past. Hear urban legends, listen to creepy tales about the mysterious tunnels, and find out how this complex underground network continues to impact the city.
