We LOVED visiting the Osaka Castle. The history of the time period from when it was originally built was fascinating! I highly recommend using the audio tour. It gave a great brief overview of each section, but don't forget to read the extra information written around each artifact and display of the battles! (There's some extra "gossip" thrown in which I very much enjoyed.) Also, seeing the area of the ORIGINAL stone wall which had been buried with the icing on the cake. I would ABSOLUTELY return!

Overall, it was a good experience. The observatory is located on the 8th floor. Please note that the elevators only go up to the 5th floor. Unfortunately, we missed the queue on the left for the elevator, so we ended up taking the stairs all the way to the top. There are two stamps that visitors can collect. I missed the first one. I'm not entirely sure where it is, but it’s probably at the top of the castle. The second stamp is available at the exit.

Visited Osaka Castle and it was honestly one of the most impressive historical spots in Japan. The castle looks majestic, especially with the huge stone walls and the surrounding park. The view from the top floor is amazing—you can see a wide panorama of Osaka city. Inside the castle there are exhibitions about Toyotomi Hideyoshi and the history of the castle, which made the visit even more interesting. Definitely a must-visit place if you’re in Osaka!

Osaka Castle was awesome. After reading about the history and stories, Osaka Castle climbed to the top of my list of best castles in Japan. Purchasing the ticket online took only a few minutes and I got to skip the line right outside. The cost was the same online vs paying at the ticket counter. I think it's worth it, especially if you like history, culture, and architecture.

The castle is a magical venue, with the plum cherry tree garden and museum showcasing the block wall history, a very special day. Skipping the queue with pre-purchased tickets an absolute bonus, with no delays getting in. The views and history within such a treat. wandering the gounds and seeing the majesty of this is truly rewarding

When I got to the castle and saw the long line , I quickly used the easy accessible QR code to purchase tickets via Headout and we had our tickets in a few minutes . We skipped the line and walked straight in to visit the Osaka castle. So many amazing historical artifacts and interesting and informative displays I would highly recommend this visit

Taking inspiration from the Taisho period, this attraction is an important historical heritage site, built in Ancient Japan. Explore Osaka Castle’s historical grounds at your own time and pace. This experience is one that shouldn’t be missed while in Osaka. In 1583, Hideyoshi Toyotomi began trying to build the Osaka Castle on the site of Ishiyama Hongaji, which was suitable to inhabit a ruler.

After the death of Hideyoshi’s death, the regime moved to the Tokugawa family and the Osaka Castle fell in 1615 at Osaka Natsunokin. This heritage site was then rebuilt under the order of the second Shogun Hidetada Tokugawa, which took around 10 years. This site played a major role as the base of the Western government for the Shogun. Featuring a spectacular light-up and Japanese historical treasures, this Osaka Castle illumination displays over 3 million colorful LED lights on a 300cm long picture scroll. Don’t miss this 430-year-old edifice in Osaka.

Flash photography is not allowed in certain areas of the castle.

Accessibility

Free admission will be given to visitors with disability certificates. One companion can also be admitted for free.

The castle is wheelchair and stroller accessible. However, if the castle gets too crowded on a certain day, strollers will not be allowed.

Guests can deposit their belongings at the entrance ticket counter at a fee of JPY100 per piece. Available from 9am to 4:30pm only (last call for pick up at 5pm).
