I just had to show the QR code from the online ticket to the guard and was ushered to a separate express line straight to the the ticket counter, and then showing the code again to enter. And there was a line of people, about 30 at the time all queing up to buy the tickets at the counter. The whole experience was really great, well displayed and translations of artifacts and history of Osaka. The top floor on the 8th floor is a viewing deck, and it is breathtaking to see the beautiful mountains in the horizon surrounding the city with the breeze in your face. Totally worth a visit for sure !

Pre-ordering tickets is a MUST. The line was absolutely crazy to get tickets. Once you get past the ticket booth, you will get an option to wait in line for an elevator or to take the stairs. If you are able to take the stairs, it will also save a lot of time. Even with the elevator though, be prepared for a lot of walking and a good amount of stairs outside the castle. It is beautiful and so interesting. Take your time on each floor, and take a seat to pace yourself when you need. It will be warm once you are in and surrounded by people.

Got to Osaka castle and the queues for the tickets were CRAZY! We were contemplating leaving when I decided to check for online tickets - it took seconds to book and we got into the express queue where we literally walked past everyone and got straight into the castle. Despite being busy inside we managed to see and experience what we wanted and get some great photos.

The architecture is beautiful, the story of the castle's owner well told with a lot of typically Japanese detail and whimsy, with a 360-degree view of the park on the top floor and everything very well organized! A must-see in Osaka!

It saved us time to purchase tickets ahead of time. We were still able to store our backpacks and jackets at the front desk for 100 yen per item.

visited Osaka Castle on a pretty wet and cold winter day, and to be honest, the weather actually made the experience kind of special. While blue skies are nice, the rain made the massive stone walls look darker and more dramatic, and the gold accents on the tower really popped against the grey sky. Plus, the park was much quieter than usual, which was a nice bonus.I was super grateful that the interior is a modern, reconstructed museum. Stepping out of the freezing rain and into a warm, heated building felt amazing. It’s not an old drafty castle inside, so it’s actually a perfect rainy-day activity. We took our time going through the history exhibits and looking at the samurai dioramas just to stay dry and warm.We did brave the outer observation deck at the top. It was a bit windy and misty, but the view of the city through the rain was really cool and moody. Just be careful on the walk up to the castle, as the stone paths can get a little slick when they’re wet.My biggest tip? Don’t rush off immediately. Grab some piping hot takoyaki from the stalls near the entrance afterwards. Standing under an umbrella, eating hot food while looking up at the castle in the rain, was actually one of my favorite moments of the trip.
  • Taking inspiration from the Taisho period, this attraction is an important historical heritage site, built in Ancient Japan. Explore Osaka Castle’s historical grounds at your own time and pace. This experience is one that shouldn’t be missed while in Osaka. In 1583, Hideyoshi Toyotomi began trying to build the Osaka Castle on the site of Ishiyama Hongaji, which was suitable to inhabit a ruler.

After the death of Hideyoshi’s death, the regime moved to the Tokugawa family and the Osaka Castle fell in 1615 at Osaka Natsunokin. This heritage site was then rebuilt under the order of the second Shogun Hidetada Tokugawa, which took around 10 years. This site played a major role as the base of the Western government for the Shogun. Featuring a spectacular light-up and Japanese historical treasures, this Osaka Castle illumination displays over 3 million colorful LED lights on a 300cm long picture scroll. Don’t miss this 430-year-old edifice in Osaka.
