Enjoy a skip the line entry to the spectacular Ceausescu villa. From the outside, the Ceausescu villa looks unassuming. The inside, however, looks like a palace. Constructed after Nicolae Ceausescu came to power in 1965, the villa is a sight to behold. Its interior walls are lined with silkscreens and mahogany panels, chandeliers hang from the ceiling and lavish carpets can be found everywhere. An indoor pool has been converted into a mini gallery, showcasing photographs of the Ceauşescu family. In the basement is a private cinema where Ceausescu and his esteemed guests watched Westerns and other movies. All this, when Romanians had access to only a few hours of censored television per day.
Spend time exploring the dining room, as well as the bedrooms. Everything is still in its original place, so you will still see closets still full of Elena Ceausescu's fur coats. Stroll through the garden, dotted with elegant sculptures, and soak in the history of the palace. This was a house where a dictator's family was living the high life, while the rest of the country was starving.
