Did you know?

. The famous bust of Nefertiti was discovered in 1912 during an excavation in Amarna, Egypt, and almost didn't make it to Berlin. It was almost kept in Egypt, but after negotiations, it became one of the museum’s most iconic pieces.

The Neues Museum survived two major world wars but was severely damaged during World War II. For decades, it remained in ruins until the painstaking restoration in the 2000s, blending old and new architectural styles.

During restoration, a ceiling fresco from the 19th century was uncovered in the museum. It had been hidden beneath layers of rubble and dust for decades, offering a glimpse into the building's early decorative history.

Located on Museum Island, the Neues Museum is part of a UNESCO World Heritage site. Its significance isn't just in its collections but also in its architectural and cultural value, making it a must-see on Berlin’s cultural map.

The Neues Museum is home to a fascinating collection of mummies. One of the most intriguing is the ‘Berlin Mummy,’ a woman from ancient Egypt, whose cause of death remains a mystery and continues to be studied by scientists.
