It tells the story of the Schöllack women, but more deeply, it tackles a time of struggle for women in 1950s Berlin. A brilliant and empathic production, it expertly navigates what life would have looked like in this era of turmoil and change.
The Story
The Schöllack sisters and their mother run a dance school in Berlin. As the world around them shifts and changes, the quartet braves the turn of the decade as they learn who they are, push back against a world not made for them, and fight for their emancipation.
