About The Louvre Museum
The Louvre Museum is a former royal palace turned global cultural institution. Spanning over 60,000 square meters of exhibition space, it houses more than 35,000 works of art across eight curatorial departments, from Near Eastern antiquities to 19th-century European paintings.
The museum is organized into three main wings namely Denon, Sully, and Richelieu, each spread across multiple floors. The Denon Wing draws crowds to iconic masterpieces, while the Sully Wing traces the building’s medieval foundations and ancient collections. The Richelieu Wing showcases decorative arts, sculptures, and grand Napoleon III apartments.
At the heart of it all stands the glass pyramid entrance in the Cour Napoléon, a modern architectural landmark that contrasts with the palace’s classical façades. Wide corridors, sweeping staircases, and vaulted ceilings connect vast galleries, allowing you to move between civilizations, centuries, and artistic movements in a single visit.
