The castle is impressive for its architecture and the size of the paintings on display. Despite the intense heat, many windows and doors were open to allow for a much-appreciated flow of air. The introductory video is particularly noteworthy, as it explains the castle’s history under the patronage of King Francis I, a great hunter and architecture enthusiast. Also worth noting is the collection of buttons featuring animal motifs, as the king was passionate about hunting. The staircase designed by Leonardo da Vinci is impressive.
