La experiencia ha sido muy buena, la ubicación para recoger los tickets no era exactamente donde nos conducía Google maps, pero había personas pendientes preguntando si íbamos con headout y enseguida nos dieronnlos tickets impresos. Después solo hemos tenido que pasar por la entrada evitando las colas. Y sobre Pompeya, nada que decir, hay que ir a verlo, es increíble que después de tantos años este tan bien conservado. Nos ha encantado la visita.

A visit to the Pompeii archaeological park is a deeply involving experience. Walking on the streets of the ancient city, being aware of all those people that walked the same streets two thousand years before, when the tragedy happened, evokes special feelings.

Wer glaubt, man müsst Pompeji nur einmal im Leben gesehen haben, der irrt sich gewaltig! Wir waren nun schon mehrfach hier und die Ausgrabungsstätte schafft es jedes einzelne Mal aufs Neue, uns komplett in ihren Bann zu ziehen. Es ist einfach magisch: Bei jedem Besuch entdeckt man neue Details, frisch freigelegte Ausgrabungen oder versteckte Ecken, die man vorher übersehen hat. Die Geschichte wird hier so lebendig und greifbar wie an kaum einem anderen Ort der Welt. Man fühlt sich wahrhaftig wie auf einer Zeitreise ins antike Rom. Ein extrem wichtiger Tipp für alle Besucher: Unterschätzt die Größe des Areals nicht! Wir waren dieses Mal gut 6 Stunden auf den Beinen – und das ist auch absolut notwendig, wenn man die Highlights halbwegs entspannt sehen möchte. Für so einen langen Aufenthalt ist sehr gutes, stabiles Schuhwerk (am besten eingelaufene Sneaker oder Wanderschuhe) ein absolutes Muss! Das antike Kopfsteinpflaster ist uneben und fordert die Füße heraus. Für uns bleibt Pompeji ein absolutes Highlight in Italien. Wir kommen definitiv auch ein nächstes Mal wieder! Absolute Empfehlung!

Esperienza davvero memorabile. Il biglietto combo per Pompei ed Ercolano permette di vivere in una sola giornata due siti archeologici unici, ma con atmosfere diverse. Ercolano mi ha colpito moltissimo per lo stato di conservazione delle case, degli affreschi, dei mosaici e degli ambienti interni: camminare tra quelle stanze dà davvero la sensazione di entrare nella vita quotidiana dell’antica città. La vista con il Vesuvio sullo sfondo rende tutto ancora più suggestivo. Pompei è più grande e scenografica, mentre Ercolano è più raccolta, intensa e sorprendente nei dettagli. Consiglio di iniziare presto, portare acqua e prendersi il tempo necessario per osservare bene ogni angolo. Un’esperienza culturale bellissima, emozionante e assolutamente consigliata.

We had a wonderful time at Pompeii. Being a far way from home in the beatiful region of Naples it was a must to see the historical cornerstone that is the antique city of Pompeii. The ruins, the recorvered carcasses and the overlooking view of Vesuvio was, to say the least, breathtaking and thought-enducing. I cannot recommend you enough visiting this place of history. Especially with the convenience of e-tickets provided by Headout. Quick, easy, well priced and with clear communication tickets bought with Headout made our experince hassle-free. A magical tour through time! To witness the innate desire of human being for perfection, and the succeful preservation of it through centuries, was mesmerizing. This visit made me proud of being a human being, a feeling I have had challenged in the past few years-- with all the violence going on in our societies. Thank you Italy for creating this global heritage, and preserving it. We were touched to witness and admired many small groups of field workers excavating more precious heritage under the scorching sun. Amazing. On a practical note, we were disappointed to have paid for audio guide, to be told that it did not work because of poor internet connection! You need to put some order in the chaotic offer of audio guides! Thank you

Visiting Pompeii was one of the highlights of my trip to Italy, and our guide made the experience truly unforgettable. Our archaeologist guide was so passionate about the site and everything she had to tell us about it. She was witty and funny and we found her very enjoyable. The two hour tour was a little hard on these 69-year-old bodies and the pace seemed to be a little quicker than we were comfortable with. But there were frequent stops and we were savvy enough to have brought enough water with us. Anyone with any type of mobility issue will be hard pressed to enjoy this, especially during the hot summer months.

Getting started

What to bring

Carry your earphones for an immersive audio guide experience. If you are given a physical audio guide, ensure you arrive prepared with wired earphones (3.5mm jack).

A moderate amount of walking is involved in this activity. Please wear comfortable shoes due to uneven terrain.

Full names are mandatory for Pompeii bookings. Double-check the names at checkout for a hassle-free entry. Be sure to bring a valid Photo ID with you to gain entry.

What's not allowed

Strict dress code: No discourteous clothing or shirtless attire is allowed inside Pompeii Archaeological Park.

Big dogs (above the weight 10kg and the height of 40cm) are not allowed into the venue. Guide dogs with the proper certification are welcome.

Accessibility

Pompeii has uneven ground and limited wheelchair access. Use the south-side entrances instead of the main one.

Choose safety and comfort: This experience is not the best fit for people with impaired mobility and cardiac issues.

Tickets to the ruins are free of charge for disabled people and a companion, to be purchased directly on-site.

Additional information

Facilities: cloakroom, luggage storage. Head to the Superiore Entrance to make use of the onsite luggage facilities.

The fee for the excavation sites of Pompeii is free for all first Sundays of the month.

Children under 18 enjoy free entry with a valid ID.

If you’re an EU citizen aged 18-24, you can avail the ticket at €2.

The same discount applies if you’re a non-EU citizen with a valid Italian residence permit (for study, work, family reasons, etc., as recognized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs).
