Pompeii is definitely worth visiting. Its sad to think what had happened in the past but was unbelievable to see how its been returned and restored to show how the city and people lived back then. We had booked for early entry at 10.30 to tie in with transport and although we arrived an hour earlier we were still able to get in which was great. Being able to have the tickets in your Google wallet was great it made it so much easier and having pre-booked ment we were able to skip the massive queue. We would advise going early as 1. It was getting busier as the day went on and 2. It was getting hotter and hotter. We were only there for 3 hours and seen quite alot which was amazing and we both said we would go back to.

Mit den Online-Tickets um 09.00 h an der Warteschlange vorbei, gelangten wir vor dem grossen Ansturm wunderbar aufs Gelände. Der Rundgang ohne Führung in unserem Tempo durch die Anlage hat uns sehr beeindruckt! Wir staunten über die hochentwickelte Bauweise der Römer und die Lebensart, wie sie zur Zeit um 79 n. Chr. wohl stattgefunden hat. Wir bekamen eine Ahnung davon, was die Katastrophe rund um den Vesuv-Ausbruch für die dort lebenden Menschen damals wohl bedeutete und waren fasziniert, wie die Asche das Ganze wie in einer Zeitkapsel für die Nachwelt konserviert hat!

Absolutely worth it, especially in high season! We visited Pompeii in the middle of August, and there was an absolutely incredible queue at the entrance. Luckily, we had bought our tickets online through Headout, so we simply showed our tickets at the entrance and walked straight in without having to wait in the long line. It saved us so much time and stress, especially in the summer heat. The whole process was easy and convenient, and the tickets worked perfectly. I would definitely recommend using Headout when visiting popular attractions during peak season!

We were mislead by our cruise company , the excursion Pompeii on your own was anly a bus ride. This mean we had to get tickets on arrival. We booked them online whilst at the site, the purchase was straightfoward and the instructions clear. When we were not sure where to go, this was explained through text message and picking up the tickets was easy. The advice given regarding where to enter was super saving us lots of time waiting unnecessarily. What was potential disaster was avoided and time in the site was maximised.

The tour was amazing. Well organized from meeting point all the way through to the end. Our guide Grace was absolute amazing. The information and knowledge of the different sites was amazing. The explanations and stories of each site was fascinating. We really enjoyed our tour and we would highly recommend it. This is the best way to see the main sites in Pompei with a great tour guide. Shout out to our amazing guide Grace.

Fabulous visit, very interesting. Wasn't sure how to access the audio tour, thankfully saw someone else do it in front of us. Audio was very useful as the in person guided tours although informative but very long. We would have liked better instructions on how to access the audio tour and instructions on entry. But otherwise worth every penny

La visite s'est bien passée. Seulement, de la gare de train, j'ai du marcher presque d'un kilomètre pour accéder à l'entrée qui m'avait été désignée. Aussi, l'audio-guide ne fonctionnait pas bien et il était difficile de détecter correctement les capsules audio rattachées aux différents lieux d'intérêt.

Admission facile mais j'ai des problèmes pour marcher ... il y a un ascenseur pour redescendre mais pas indiqué ... heureusement une guide qui connaissait les lieux m'y a accompagnée... Aucune explication en Français !!! C'est regrettable !

Admissions faciles, 3 entrées, très grand, très intéressant et émouvant. Audioguides en français. Attention au réseau parfois manquant pour le GPS. A voir absolument.

What to bring

Carry your earphones for an immersive audio guide experience. If you are given a physical audio guide, ensure you arrive prepared with wired earphones (3.5mm jack).

A moderate amount of walking is involved in this activity. Please wear comfortable shoes due to uneven terrain.

Full names are mandatory for Pompeii bookings. Double-check the names at checkout for a hassle-free entry. Be sure to bring a valid Photo ID with you to gain entry.

What's not allowed

Strict dress code: No discourteous clothing or shirtless attire is allowed inside Pompeii Archaeological Park.

Big dogs (above the weight 10kg and the height of 40cm) are not allowed into the venue. Guide dogs with the proper certification are welcome.

Accessibility

Pompeii has uneven ground and limited wheelchair access. Use the south-side entrances instead of the main one.

Choose safety and comfort: This experience is not the best fit for people with impaired mobility and cardiac issues.

Tickets to the ruins are free of charge for disabled people and a companion, to be purchased directly on-site.

Additional information

Facilities: cloakroom, luggage storage. Head to the Superiore Entrance to make use of the onsite luggage facilities.

The fee for the excavation sites of Pompeii is free for all first Sundays of the month.

Children under 18 enjoy free entry with a valid ID.

If you’re an EU citizen aged 18-24, you can avail the ticket at €2.

The same discount applies if you’re a non-EU citizen with a valid Italian residence permit (for study, work, family reasons, etc., as recognized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs).
