Une entrée matinale en ce début d'automne est idéale car le soleil est toujours présent et supportable et la foule moins intense qu'en période estivale. Une journée bien remplie et enrichissante. On a beau connaître l'histoire de Pompeï, on a beau imaginer la vie à l'époque et avant le drame, on a pas idée de ce que l'on va découvrir. Ces Romains étaient très structurés, organisés, ingenieux, artistes, festifs,... A ce demander s'ils ne vivaient pas mieux que nous aujourd'hui ? Nous n'avons rien inventé d'utile depuis, ils avaient déjà tout inventé. Nous n'avons que modernisé leur inventions. Au Moyen Age, on vivait encore moins bien dans l'hexagone. N'hésitez plus, faites le.

An amazing experience. Rich in history and content from the get-go. The ruins are so well preserved and access is very open allowing such a great insight into life back in Pompeii 2000 years ago. At times you can almost imagine youself walking through the town in its prime. I recommend giving at least 2 hours to walk around the ruins, and at least 4 for those who enjoy learning about hsptry and taking in the detail. Parking was easy, plenty of food / service areas and despite the large crowd, we rarely felt held up by the amount of people, due to the amount of content and size of the town. I will return.

Das Prozedere, also Zusendung und Abholung der Tickets, verlief reibungslos. Dafür 5 Sterne! Allerdings ist eine Karte sinnvoll, um dann durch das Areal hindurchzufinden. Diese gibt es aber nicht kostenlos oder für kleines Geld dazu, sondern muss sie zusammen mit einem Reiseführer für 16,70€ erwerben. Das ist schon unverschämt! Deshalb nur 4 Sterne. Wir haben den Reiseführer samt Karte nicht gekauft, sondern diese bei jemandem abfotografiert und die Infos dann übers Netz eingeholt. Pompeji Anfang November ist ein Traum. Warm, tolles Licht (wir waren nachmittags da) und nicht voll!!!

We did not realize were to be not only placed on the teain but alao talen to Ponpei. A nice touch and our guide was friwndly and professional. Pompei was amazing as expeced and we really benefited from visitnng rhe museum in Naples first.

My visit to Pompeii was genuinely impressive. The site is extensive and well-preserved, making it easy to see how the ancient city was structured. Walking through the streets and spotting original mosaics, frescoes, and buildings gave me a real sense of discovering something remarkable. The organization of the site is also a big plus. Entry is efficient, the paths are clearly marked, and maps and information boards make navigating such a large area straightforward. Staff members are approachable and ready to help, which makes the experience even smoother. Overall, Pompeii is a well-managed archaeological site that offers a fascinating and energizing look into ancient urban life. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in history or simply looking for an exciting and memorable place to visit.

Pompeii overall is worth a visit, especially if you know Italy is far from you, historically and architecturally it is amazing, so still worth it in my opinion, the only problem was actually this ticket on headout, this 'ticket' is actually a voucher for a ticket, me and my sister had to walk about 30 minutes from Pompeii Scavi station where we were told to get off for a 'quick entrance', we were then correctly told my staff that we had to walk quite a long away to pick up the ticket with this voucher, Headout just failed to specify anywhere that we had to do that, as a result we lost a lot of time

What to bring

A moderate amount of walking is involved in this activity. Please wear comfortable shoes due to uneven terrain.

Full names are mandatory for Pompeii bookings. Double-check the names at checkout for a hassle-free entry. Be sure to bring a valid Photo ID with you to gain entry.

What's not allowed

Strict dress code: No discourteous clothing or shirtless attire is allowed inside Pompeii Archaeological Park.

Big dogs (above the weight 10kg and the height of 40cm) are not allowed into the venue. Guide dogs with the proper certification are welcome.

Accessibility

Pompeii has uneven ground and limited wheelchair access. Use the south-side entrances instead of the main one.

Choose safety and comfort: This experience is not the best fit for people with impaired mobility and cardiac issues.

Tickets to the ruins are free of charge for disabled people and a companion, to be purchased directly on-site.

To avoid long lines, we recommend using the Piazza Porta Marina Inferiore entrance, which is dedicated to online ticket holders. Please allow extra time for the on-site voucher exchange to collect your physical tickets.

Additional information

Facilities: cloakroom, luggage storage. Head to the Superiore Entrance to make use of the onsite luggage facilities.

The fee for the excavation sites of Pompeii is free for all first Sundays of the month.

Children under 18 enjoy free entry with a valid ID.

If you’re an EU citizen aged 18-24, you can avail the ticket at €2.

The same discount applies if you’re a non-EU citizen with a valid Italian residence permit (for study, work, family reasons, etc., as recognized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs).

Train information (if train transfers are selected)

Collect your train tickets from from the inStazione desk at Napoli Centrale Station.

The Circumvesuviana train departs from platform 1 (lower level) of Napoli Centrale → Pompei Scavi – Villa dei Misteri runs every 30 minutes (first train ~6:15am, last ~9:30pm).

Journey time: ~30 minutes. The Pompei Scavi stop is directly in front of Porta Marina Inferiore, the main entrance.
