My spouse and I plus another couple saw this sumo event in Osaka while stopping there during our cruise. We showed up about half an hour early, took off our shoes, and hung out in the cozy waiting room. They had some popcorn and drinks for sale, which hit the spot. The emcee, Sawa, kicked things off by introducing the wrestlers, showing us all kinds of moves, and sharing some history and rituals about sumo. There were hands-on demonstrations and then they let some folks from the crowd try on the mawashi belt and challenge the sumos. Everyone—from little kids to adults—got involved, which made it a blast. Sawa and the sumos, Kai and Ryuu, kept everyone in stitches and made us really feel welcome. At the end, you could chat with the pros and grab a quick photo. Sawa even encouraged us to take part if we ever came back, and honestly, after seeing it all up close, I’m thinking about joining next time. This is perfect for families or anyone wanting some laughs while learning about sumo.
