Visiting Osaka Castle was an absolute highlight of our trip. As someone who deeply appreciates structural design, witnessing the massive stone walls and the intricate architectural balance of this historic fortress up close was truly fascinating. My wife and I had a wonderful time capturing the stunning silhouette of the castle, especially from the serene Nishinomaru Garden. Osaka Castle was an amazing experience and definitely one of the must-see places in Osaka. The view from the top was stunning, offering a magnificent panorama of the city and making the visit feel very special. Inside, the exhibition was very enriching, informative, and well presented. I learned a lot about the history of the castle, the city, and the people connected to it. The combination of breathtaking views and cultural discovery made this visit unforgettable. I highly recommend it to anyone traveling to Osaka.

Buying tickets on line avoided a long wait in the ticket purchase queue. The queue for the elevator was also very long so we climbed the stairs. It was actually fine as we stopped on each floor and took the time to look at the excellent displays. Good views from the top. Perhaps only criticism, while the numbers going up were being managed, there were still too many people inside. I'd recommend the total number allowed access at any given time be reduced.

We got there my husband said oh I don't want to stand in line and go out to the castle since there was so many people. It was cherry blossom season and all the cherry blossoms out in the soccer park. It's beautiful. Anyway, I noticed some people with a QR code and I asked and they said they booked them through you and I did it right there and you sent them to me within a minute and we win it with no problem. We skipped the line!

Osaka Castle tickets let us skip the long queue at the ticketing office, was able to enter immediately and go through which gave us enough time to head out to Universal Studios. US tickets also worked well as we just needed to enter using the QR codes. No lines though as we arrived around 11AM and everyone has already got in.

My favourite part was the stunning architecture and design of the Osaka castle, the amount of details was incredible. The inside of the castle was very educational, and quite cool to see all the history behind Osaka. Buying an online pass made our entry to the castle smooth and fast, definitely would recommend buying beforehand.

We didn't waste any time standing in line at the Osaka Castle by buying our tickets with headout. When we arrived to the castle the ticket line was long so decided to go online instead. The process was super easy and we were inside the castle within 10 minutes. The experience was amazing and stress free.

When we saw the queue to purchase tickets and that there was a separate empty entrance for digital tickets, we knew we had to pull the trigger. Purchased the tickets in a minute and skipped a thirty minute queue.

Taking inspiration from the Taisho period, this attraction is an important historical heritage site, built in Ancient Japan. Explore Osaka Castle’s historical grounds at your own time and pace. This experience is one that shouldn’t be missed while in Osaka. In 1583, Hideyoshi Toyotomi began trying to build the Osaka Castle on the site of Ishiyama Hongaji, which was suitable to inhabit a ruler.

After the death of Hideyoshi’s death, the regime moved to the Tokugawa family and the Osaka Castle fell in 1615 at Osaka Natsunokin. This heritage site was then rebuilt under the order of the second Shogun Hidetada Tokugawa, which took around 10 years. This site played a major role as the base of the Western government for the Shogun. Featuring a spectacular light-up and Japanese historical treasures, this Osaka Castle illumination displays over 3 million colorful LED lights on a 300cm long picture scroll. Don’t miss this 430-year-old edifice in Osaka.

What's not allowed

Large luggage, sharp metals, and food and drinks are not permitted in the castle. Only water is allowed on the premises.

Flash photography is not allowed in certain areas of the castle.

Accessibility

Free admission will be given to visitors with disability certificates. One companion can also be admitted for free.

The castle is wheelchair and stroller accessible. However, if the castle gets too crowded on a certain day, strollers will not be allowed.

Additional information

Guests can deposit their belongings at the entrance ticket counter at a fee of JPY100 per piece. Available from 9am to 4:30pm only (last call for pick up at 5pm).
