Get ready to find out facts such as the enchanting forest from "My Neighbour Totoro" being inspired by a real-world woodland in Tokyo.

Exploring the attractions

After meeting your guide, you'll enjoy a drink at the cafe while delving into the enchanting world of Studio Ghibli during the explanation session that will last for about 30 minutes. Discover the captivating history and background of the films, and receive exclusive insider tips to fully appreciate the magic within the Ghibli Museum. After the explanation session, you'll board the Ghibli Museum community bus to head to the museum. You'll enter the Ghibli Museum on your own where you can explore a life-size recreation of film sets from classics like Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle, wander through the captivating rooms, each filled with timeless artwork and enchanting exhibits, and check out the Cat Bus for kids to play in, just like in the film. The museum houses a sculpture of a robot and a stone monument from Castle in the Sky with words of the character Laputa engraved.

What to bring

A moderate amount of walking is involved and comfortable walking shoes are recommended.

Please bring along your passport. At the museum, staff will check that the name (or lead passenger) on the ticket matches your passport.

What's not allowed

Note that the following are not allowed: photography, video recording, smoking, drinking, outside food and drinks.

Pets are not allowed on this experience.

The garden roof may be closed in case of inclement weather.

The Cat Bus is for children under the age of 12.

Baby carriages are not allowed inside and are to be left at the designated storage area.

This experience is wheelchair accessible.

Guests sensitive to light should be aware that in the Permanent Exhibition Room, there is an exhibit that flashes bright bursts of stroboscopic light.

Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Admission into the Saturn Theater will be limited to one screening per person.

Please turn off all mobile phones. You are also asked not to use mobile phones outside the Museum building where they may disturb others.

Coin lockers are available for small bags and parcels. For large luggage, please contact the Museum staff for assistance.

Meet your guide at Mitaka Station, South Exit.

The tour guide will meet you at a designated point (located near Mitaka Station) and briefly introduce the world of Ghibli as you sip on a refreshing drink. From there, you will take the bus from Mitaka Station to Ghibli Museum. The exact meeting point will be provided to you after confirmation of your request.
