Getting started

Your experience begins at a traditional tea house inside Shinjuku Gyoen, where you’ll visit Kouichi Store, a kimono company established 174 years ago.

Browse the selection of genuine silk kimonos and choose your preferred design with help from the staff.

Your rental includes an obi belt, tabi socks, traditional sandals, and a Japanese handbag. Professional dressing is included, along with basic hairstyling for women.

What to expect

• Choose your preferred premium silk kimono and allow 60–90 minutes for reception, selection, professional dressing, and basic hairstyling for women.
• Once dressed, enjoy free time to explore the Shinjuku Gyoen garden and its seasonal scenery at your own pace.
• See cherry blossoms in spring, vibrant greenery in summer, fiery autumn foliage, or serene winter scenery.
• Keep the kimono inside Shinjuku Gyoen and return it by 5:00 PM. An earlier time slot is recommended for a more relaxed experience.
• Traditional sandals are unavailable on rainy days due to mud; a Japanese umbrella is provided instead.
• Once selected and worn, the kimono cannot be changed. The Shinjuku Gyoen entrance fee is not included and must be purchased separately.
