Feeding the reindeer and the reindeer-sled ride were absolutely fantastic — definitely the highlights of the day. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see the Northern Lights. The stories about Sámi culture were really interesting, and the traditional meal was nice as well, but it wasn’t a three-course dinner as advertised — we received a hot drink, some biscuits, and the main dish.

Bellissima esperienza. Non pensavo lo sledding con le renne fosse cosi divertente e sotto un cielo con l'aurora boreale. Anche dargli da mangiare è stato emozionante. La parte che mi ha affascinato di più è stato conoscere qualcosa della cultura sami di cui non sapevo molto. Veramente bello e magico.

Es war super. Wir hatten sogar Glück und haben mega Nordlichter gesehen. Die Schlittenfahrt ist kurz aber wurde auch schnell kalt von daher hat es gepasst. Die Wegbeschreibung zum Treffpunkt über 'Headout' ist falsch. Man muss zum Busparkplatz: ins Besucherzentrum rein und Treppe runter. Das Essen war ok. All in all aber ein super Erlebnis. Rentiere und staff sind super nett. :)

The experience itself was great for the northern lights and feeding the deer. We got a great display. However, there were 2 times when we had requests/questions with plenty of advance notice online and never got a reply until after I had already sorted things via a different route since I couldn't rely on the customer service. I had even sent an email about the food the day prior to experience and didn't get a reply until 4 days after we did experience. We were most looking forward to what we thought were Sami stories, but we only heard a small portion that wasn't very informative. It was cut short from northern lights viewing, however, questions that were asked were not really answered and not much substance was given in the talk. We would have liked to hear more about the Sami culture and myths. How they live. And their history.

Getting started

Meet your guide outside the main entrance of the Radisson Blu Hotel, near the Rorbua Pub and Scandic Ishav Hotel. Look for guides in blue ponchos with the Tromsø Lapland logo, who will check you in and introduce the evening’s itinerary.

What to expect

Experience Norway’s oldest form of transport as you ride a reindeer-pulled sled under Arctic skies. This activity connects you to the traditions of the indigenous Sámi people, who have herded reindeer in this region for centuries.
