In der Früh ist die beste Zeit das Schloss zu besichtigen. Die erste Führung fängt um 10:00 Uhr in der Nichtsaison an. Von den 50 Zimmern sind nur 15 Zimmer der Öffentlichkeit zugänglich, die restlichen werden für die Verwaltung genutzt. Die Führung wird mittels Audioguide gemacht, allerdings sind die Führungungen sehr eng getaktet in 10 min. Abständen, somit hat man kaum Zeit die Einzelheiten sich genauer anzusehen, denn die nächste Gruppe strömt herein. Die Gruppen sind in der größe von ca.30 Personen und ein Guide geht immer mit einer Gruppe. Die Audioguide Geräte müssen per Online gleich auf die gewünschte Sprache geordert werden. Es ist aber kein Problem, vor Ort noch einen Wechsel in eine andere Sprache zu machen.

The Castle is beautiful but we were not treated well by the staff. The security were rude and because we took the last tour, at 4pm, the staff of the Store were kicking us out... and we were buying souvenirs, spending money at the Store! So rude! We went down walking with 2 kids and no security at all during the way. The castle is worth the visit but we didnt like the treatment we received at all!

Our guide Amir was excellent!! He regaled us with stories and details about Ludwig, the construction of the castle and the family's history that we would have been hard pressed to learn on our own. Amir was thoughtful and observant to the needs of our group as we walked up to the castle. I highly recommend using Headout and Amir for your tour of the Neuschwanstein castle!

The Guide, Hanae is excellent, very knowledgeable and provide us with lots of information all along the road to Fussen, including food information of the castles and King Ludwig II. The bus is very comfortable and the driver is excellent too.

The castle's area was very scenic and worth coming to but the tour itself was rushed and very short. But I was more upset to find out that there was a real castle with rich actual history not even a kilometer away for a 1/4 of the price of this one

You are not allowed to drive up to the castle in a personal car.

Accessibility

Neuschwanstein Castle offers an elevator for wheelchair access. To ensure availability, we recommend you reserve it in advance.

The hiking trail to the castle is paved and partly very steep. It's best to use the horse carriage transport where any regular-sized, foldable wheelchair can be stowed in the trunk of the carriage. Please note that the carriages do not have a ramp.
