The Magical Mermaid Show at The National Aquarium Abu Dhabi brings mermaids to life with underwater performances on August 23–24 and 30–31, with shows at 4pm, 5pm, and 6pm.

We visited the National Aquarium to celebrate our son Gideon's 6-month milestone, and it turned out to be an unforgettable family outing! Getting from the parking area to the correct entrance was a little confusing at first — we were initially directed to the first floor entrance, which is for the combo/all-access pass holders, while we had the regular Aquarium Journey ticket (10 aquatic zones). The staff were helpful though and quickly guided us to the right entrance. The experience starts with a family photo op, which you can view and purchase at the end of the journey. We ended up buying ours — it's our very first proper family photo together, so it's extra special to us. Our favorite part was definitely the tunnel! It's beautifully lit, giving a clear, immersive view of the aquatic animals swimming all around you. Gideon was fascinated — he kept making happy little squeaky sounds the whole time, clearly delighted by everything he was seeing. Overall, the entire attraction was amazing and well worth the visit. We'll definitely be back, and we're already looking forward to trying the boat ride once Gideon is old enough for it. A wonderful way to mark our little one's half-birthday!

Our visit to the National Aquarium Abu Dhabi was truly unforgettable! From the moment we stepped inside, we were amazed by the stunning exhibits, incredible marine life, n the magical atmosphere. Every section had something unique to discover, making the experience exciting from start to finish. Visiting with my family made it even more special. Watching our little one light up with excitement as she pointed at the colorful fish, sharks, n rays was priceless. Those moments of pure joy are memories we'll cherish for years. The aquarium is beautifully maintained, easy to explore, and the staff were friendly and welcoming throughout our visit. It's not just an attraction—it's an experience that brings families together, sparks curiosity, n leaves you with a deeper appreciation for the underwater world. A huge thank you to the National Aquarium Abu Dhabi for creating such a wonderful place. We left with happy hearts, amazing memories, and can't wait to visit again. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a fun, educational, and truly memorable day out!

The National Aquarium and Butterfly Garden were both amazing places to visit. The National Aquarium had a huge variety of sea animals, including colourful fish, sharks, rays, and other fascinating creatures. I really enjoyed walking through the different sections and learning more about marine life. The Butterfly Garden was also beautiful and peaceful, with many colourful butterflies flying around freely. It was exciting to see them up close and watch them land on flowers and plants. Both attractions were clean, well-organised, and enjoyable for visitors of all ages. Overall, I had a great experience and would definitely recommend visiting the National Aquarium and Butterfly Garden to anyone who enjoys animals, nature, and discovering new things. It was an unforgettable experience.

A perfect, nature-friendly destination for a relaxing day out. We truly enjoyed our time here. The staff were warm, welcoming, and very friendly, and the entire place was clean and well maintained. It’s one of the best places to bring your kids—they’ll absolutely love it! ❤️ The place is comparatively smaller than Green Planet Dubai, but considering the ticket price, it’s definitely worth visiting. Overall, it’s a great value-for-money experience for families and nature lovers.

Had a wonderful time at the National Aquarium with my family! The exhibits were beautifully maintained, there was a great variety of marine life, and the whole experience was enjoyable for both adults and kids. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Abu Dhabi!

Why visit the National Aquarium in Abu Dhabi?

In addition to being designed on an epic scale, the National Aquarium is also home to over 35,000 aquatic animals from 300+ species of fish, birds, amphibians, arachnids, and reptiles. The National Aquarium is part of the overall vision of Al Qana which reflects Abu Dhabi’s Vision 2030.

The aquarium is made up of 10 themed zones, each offering a unique chance to discover not just rare and exotic species, but also the existence of numerous ecosystems. Visitors get to view and experience the magnitude and raw beauty of marine life with creatures sourced from the Arabian Gulf and the Red Sea to the Amazon, the Pacific, the Mediterranean, and the frozen waters of the Arctic.

Conservation & Education

All marine animals in the National Aquarium are responsibly and ethically sourced from around the world. The aquarium features the largest ever underwater tunnel, making the visitor experience all the more exciting and inclusive. As part of its conservation efforts, the aquarium also features a department dedicated entirely to education. This department will undertake a variety of entertaining shows, 60 educational exhibitions, and interactive and live-feeding sessions. With an upgrade to the All Access option, take a walk along the Glass Bridge and marvel at the gorgeous views on the Glass Bottom Boat tour. Get a peek behind the curtains on a Behind the Scenes tour of the aquarium and take home memories for a lifetime.

The Magical Mermaid show

Watch mermaids glide through the waters of the National Aquarium in a live underwater performance designed for families and children of all ages. The 30-minute show runs on August 23–24 and August 30–31, with showtimes at 4pm, 5pm, and 6pm. This limited-time experience combines ocean life with theatrical storytelling, making it ideal for birthdays, family outings, or simply a special day in Abu Dhabi. Aquarium staff are available to assist families, and the show is accessible for toddlers, kids, and adults alike.

Getting There

By bus

The closest bus stop is Khaleej Al Arabi St / Bus Interchange. It is a quick 4-minute walk to the attraction.

Board buses #21, #22, #101, and more to get you there.

It takes less than 30 minutes to reach Al Qana from Downtown Abu Dhabi. If you’re coming by bus, take route #56 which passes through the Al Maqta region.
