The ticket booking process was smooth and made it easy at the castle- though tickets were available at the venue as well. The castle though is something I would personally give a miss and spend more time in the Pena Park. The castle does offer some great panoramic views if the city, and the pleasure of the Highest point in the city, but beyond that.... Pena Park is what I would spend half a day or so with the Green clean serene and birds.

Zeker de moeite waard! Als je te voet gaat, richting beide plekken zoals ik heb gedaan, wees er dan op bedacht dat je de volgende dag spierpijn hebt 😉 Bij het Moors kasteel is het veel klemmen, veel trap lopen, maar geloof mij, het is meer dan de moeite waard! Het is prachtig! Bij Quinta da Regaleira is het veel lopen omdat het groot is, ook heuvelachtig, dus zeker niet alleen maar vlak. De "waterput" waar je als herboren uit zou komen... Ik had er veel van verwacht in die zin dat je even rustig naar beneden kon lopen.. Echter "moet" je doorlopende, want als je te lang stil blijft staan om even te kijken of goede foto's te maken, wordt er door iemand geroepen dat je door moet lopen... Dat is wel jammer. Echter is het er wel mooi!

The castle was immense and its construction was unbelievable. The view from on top was remarkable. So many steps and nooks and crannies to discover.

What to bring

Bring a fully charged smartphone and your trusted headphones if choosing the audio guide upgrade.

Make sure to wear sturdy walking shoes as you’ll encounter lots of uneven terrain inside the castle.

Pet dogs are welcome at the castle. Make sure to read these guidelines before bringing your pet dog along.

What’s not allowed

Flash photography, tripods, and filming equipment are not allowed inside the exhibition spaces.

The experience is not fully wheelchair accessible due to uneven terrain and historic structures.

Certain areas of the castle are wheelchair accessible. These include the inner portions of the castle, the Moorish Castle Church, the store, and the cafeteria.

There is parking for disabled persons.

Private parking is otherwise not available. We’d recommend parking at the historic center of Sintra and relying on public transportation to reach the castle.
