Nestled at the foot of Mount Abantos in the Sierra de Guadarrama range, the Royal Site of San Lorenzo of El Escorial was chosen to be the seat of Spanish power by King Philip II of Spain. Take some time to soak in the pleasant Spanish countryside from the ‘Courtyard of the Kings’ before entering the Royal Site. Soak up the spectacular artifacts and historic rooms including the Armoury and the Royal Mausoleum.
