Getting started

Meet your guide at the Mercat Cross in Old Town. After ticket checks and audio device distribution, the evening begins with a short walk through the city’s dark, narrow alleys.

What to expect

Your Storyteller will guide you through eerie wynds once filled with mobs, whispers, and cries. You’ll descend into the haunted Blair Street Underground Vaults, where chilling tales echo through candlelit chambers.

Old Town walking route: Follow shadowy closes and historic courtyards as your guide shares true tales of witch trials, executions and unrest from Edinburgh’s past.

Blair Street Underground Vaults: Step into one of Edinburgh’s most atmospheric spaces. These dim vaults hold real stories of body snatching, crime and uneasy echoes of the past.

Master storyteller: Your cloaked guide leads the way with gripping accounts based on true events, shared exactly where they happened centuries ago.

Like-minded group of people and an audio device: With a small group size and personal audio devices, you’ll catch every story—even in narrow alleys and echoing vaults.

Megget’s Cellar session: End the evening in a candlelit cellar with a drink in hand as the storytelling continues in an intimate, atmospheric setting.

Drinks included: Choose from a dram of Scotch whisky, a local craft IPA, or a Scottish soft drink made with natural ingredients.

This small-group tour mixes history, horror, and a touch of warmth, and it’s perfect for anyone drawn to Edinburgh’s darker tales and eerie atmosphere.

What’s not allowed

Safety is a priority, so the 1-hour walking tour is restricted to guests under the age of 18 years, and the 2-hour walking tour is restricted to guests under the age of 5 years.

Due to venue restrictions, pets cannot tag along for this experience.

Do not drink alcohol before you arrive for your late-night experience.
