Loved seeing the penguins and hearing all about them by the knowledgeable rangers. It was a magical experience and despite the rain we had a good sense of humour and just lapped it all up. The rangers were so friendly and welcoming. We felt so comfortable and at ease. Omgosh the penguins were by far the highlight. Sweet little things that they are - and there were so many to see. Definitely a must see, even if you've been before.

First of all awesome staff service including captain. They look after very well. They provide every single information to each passenger on board. We saw dolphins,seals and whales. We were lucky on that day we got a chance to see all kinds of water creatures. Again my daughter felt sea sickness but staff helped very nice way. I will recommend everyone please come and get good experience.

It was overall a great experience. We did this with our 2yo kid and we only stayed until just before after 6pm because our boy had enough waiting, for about 1hr and 30mins. We didnt see the penguins properly coming out from the water because it was very dark and they are so tiny but we saw them upclose from the boardwalk when we were returning to the main centre. I think this is best if kids are older than 5 yo and above. Otherwise it was a brilliant day!

The penguin parade is a wonderful experience - for locals, visitors and international visitors alike. It is a credit to the tireless work of NPWS. Unfortunately the experience is somewhat spoiled by visitors who choose to ignore the repeated requests for no photography or use of light emiting devices. NPWS staff should not have to continually be making, individual, requests to stop this.

My neurodivergent 6-year-old daughter loved the interactive exhibit - fantastic work on such an inclusive space for all who love to learn about the environment through a more hands-on approach! Very nostalgic experience for us parents as well, having attended the penguin parade as kids and having an option to sit on the "old" concrete stand or newer, refreshed stands - wonderful work.

Photographs and video recordings are not permitted during penguin arrival due to the light sensitivity of the birds.

Big bags are not permitted. Only small carry-on bags are allowed inside.

Penguin Parade

Penguins arrive at sunset each evening, with typical arrival times ranging from 8:30 to 9pm in summer (Dec–Feb), 7 to 8pm in autumn (Mar–May), 5:15 to 6pm in winter (Jun–Aug), and 6:30 to 8pm in spring (Sep–Nov). Arrive at least 1 hour beforehand to secure your seat and enjoy the visitor center before the parade begins.

Daily business hours may change; please check the official website of each attraction before departure.

If you are planning a visit from mid-December to late January, or during a long weekend or the school holiday period, please allow extra travel time as the traffic can get busy.
