Half-Day Tour of Rio: Christ the Redeemer, Sugarloaf Mountain and More

The views at Sugarloaf mountain and Christ the Redeemer were beautiful, our guide was kind and helpful! However, the sites were extremely crowded, which unfortunately meant we had to cue for about 3 hours during the tour, with no priority access. We could only do 25 mins of sightseeing at each site to make up for part of the delay, which was quite short. Ultimately, instead of 5 hours, the tour lasted 9-10 hours (!). Although we had planned a generous buffer before our evening flight, we ended up having to leave the last site early with our own arranged private transportation to make it back to our hotel on time. When booking, we considered that we could skipping the second part of the tour (Sugarloaf) if timings got tight, however on the day of the tour the itinerary was swapped (Sugarloaf first instead of Christ), which was not communicated in advance. The guide helped as best as he could, however the itinerary change and risk of such significant delays should have been properly communicated in advance.

Took the morning city tour with my partner and it was sooooo worth it! We zipped through Rio’s biggies—Christ the Redeemer was pure MAGIC, even if it got crowded quick. Our guide, Pedro, had stories for days and kept things fun (and honest, lol). The Maracana stop was quick but I snagged a pic for my soccer-mad brother. Only thing: you can’t really linger at the Selaron Steps if you want a photo with no one in it! Would do it again, totally.

Good tour for Rio first-timers. I went solo & met two cool people on the bus. Guide was friendly, spoke great English, but I felt a bit rushed at the cathedral (wish I had more time to sit inside). Weather was HOTTT so bring water & sunscreen. Train ride up the mountain was a highlight, even tho the line was long. Would prob do again if I brought friends next time.

Booked this for my first trip with my girlfriend and gotta say – SOOO worth it. Our guide was super chill, kept telling lil stories about each stop. Views from the top were EPIC! Just a heads-up, if you’re scared of heights, brace yourself. It was a bit crowded but not unbearable. We went early morning, so def recommend that. Would do again for sure!
