Die Damen hat sehr kompetent und informativ berichtet. Es war keine Sekunde langweilig und wir haben alles sehr gut gesehen und auch verstanden. Wir empfehlen die Führung nur weiter, es lohnt sich total.

Die Führung durch die Stallungen der Spanischen Hofreitschule war sehr interessant und hat mir richtig gut gefallen. Besonders beeindruckend waren die schönen Lipizzaner und die Einblicke in die historischen Stallungen. Die Führung war informativ und gleichzeitig angenehm gestaltet. Insgesamt eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gerne weiterempfehle!

I really enjoyed learning about the history of the Spanish Riding School and seeing the beautiful horses. Our tour guide was fantastic with excellent English, a relaxed vibe, and kind personality. He is also doing his degree in economics which I mention because I don't know how to spell his name.

What a wonderful experience! I went to see the horses and came away with knowledge of The Spanish Riding School's history & their wonderful care of the horses. Sadly I don't remember who lead the English tour on 9th of October but she was excellent. Highly recommend!

Die Tour wurde sehr freundlich geführt und es blieb keine Frage unbeantwortet. Es war beeindruckend, wie sauber der Stall war und die wohl ordentlichste Sattelkammer, die ich je gesehen habe. Man war schon sehr ehrfürchtig, diesen Bereich betreten zu dürfen.

The Spanish Riding School was excellent and the guide was wonderful. She was extremely knowledgeable and willing to engage with the group. No questions she couldn't answer. The horses were beautiful. Wish we could have seen them in action.

Getting started

Arrive at the Visitor Centre at least 5 minutes before your tour begins. Exchange your mobile voucher for a physical ticket at the cashier’s desk (available up to 1 hour before start time), then meet your guide for a short introduction.

What to expect

Spanish Riding School

This guided tour takes you behind the scenes of one of Vienna’s most enduring cultural institutions, where classical equitation has been practiced since the 16th century. You’ll explore the architectural spaces that support both daily training and ceremonial performances.

Inside the school

Winter Riding School: Enter the Baroque riding hall and learn how its proportions, symmetry, and light were designed specifically for classical dressage.

Summer Riding School: Visit the training area that houses one of the world’s largest oval horse walkers, offering insight into modern conditioning methods.

Stallburg Imperial Stables: Explore Vienna’s most significant Renaissance building, home to the Lipizzaner stallions for over 460 years.

Equestrian Tradition: Hear how Renaissance-era methods of the Haute École are still followed today, passed down through generations of riders.
