Sovereign Hill is a great day out for the whole family. There is lots to see and do such as panning for gold, watching a wheel being made, going down into a mine, watching lollies being made, seeing the authentic buildings, characters and displays from the 1850s, and so much more. We went on a weekday in September and apart from a few school groups it was fairly quiet which made it easy to make your way around the town and get to all of the events. There are a few different food options available and some unique items and souvenirs you can buy. It's a full day so make sure you are there early to ensure you can go to all of the activities that are scheduled throughout the day.

All staff were extremely friendly and informative. All were dressed and spoke with an English accent. Made us feel as if we were actually back in time.

Visited Sovereign Hill in Ballarat and absolutely loved it! It is truly a place where history comes alive. The old buildings, heritage streets, traditional shops, and vintage atmosphere make you feel like you have stepped back in time. As we say, “old is gold,” and Sovereign Hill is a perfect example of that. The attention to detail in preserving the old heritage is amazing and worth appreciating. It was a wonderful experience for the whole family, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Ballarat. Definitely worth visiting!

Myself and my friend have not been to sovereign Hill since we were in grade 2 and grade 3 at primary School. We are now in our 50s and the memories that were regained from our younger years this week at Sevenhill were very special. The ticketing system work extremely well and being able to walk straight into the attraction at the start of our day was less stressful and maybe for a wonderful experience throughout.

Entry was smooth and easy. It was great experience and wonderful piece of history. Love the characters walking around and manning the place. What a lovely place!

Carry-on items are allowed if they fit on your seat without taking extra space. For safety, luggage cannot block aisles, wheelchair spaces, or exits.

Alcohol, weapons, drugs, drones, pets, smoking and furniture are not allowed onboard the ferry.

Ballarat Wildlife Park

Due to venue restrictions, pets cannot tag along on this experience.

The experience is wheelchair accessible. The accessible gold panning area features an elevated water channel and an easy-to-navigate pathway. Some areas have wide bluestone gutters between boardwalks and gravel roads. Ramps are marked on the free visitor map available at entry.

Guide dogs are welcome at the venue. Accredited assistance dogs wearing identifiable jackets must be harnessed or leashed and under the owner’s control at all times on Sovereign Hill’s premises. Owners may be asked to show a valid photo ID confirming them as the handler.
