My wife and I have always held a profound love for Les Misérables, a masterpiece we were fortunate enough to catch multiple times during its incredible run in NYC. The moment we discovered the production was playing in Chicago, we didn't hesitate to book flights, eager to step back into that familiar world and relive our most cherished theatrical memories. Our devotion took an international turn during a recent trip to Madrid. Spotting a Spanish production of the musical, we instantly bought tickets, fascinated by the prospect of experiencing it in a new tongue. Even with the language barrier, the show's brilliant artistry translated perfectly. The iconic score remained utterly captivating, and the powerhouse performances were deeply moving. Les Misérables is a timeless treasure, and we are already looking forward to finding our next excuse to see it again somewhere in the world.

Para mi, ha sido un día inolvidable. Resaltaría el ambiente familiar que se respiraba, desde la atención y amabilidad del personal hasta la belleza que proporcionaba el teatro en sí. We have watched Les Miserables quite a few times in London's West End but the performance at Teatro Nuevo Apolo in Madrid was by far the best. It didn't matter that it was being sung in Spanish (we don't speak a word) as it was so good. The set was incredible, the cast amazing and the theatre box seats fantastic value for money. Well done Madrid for your marvellous Spanish translation of Les Miserables!

Fue uno de los mejores espectáculos que he visto en mi vida. Muy intenso, te mantiene atento hasta el último momento. Los actores son unos profesionales con unas voces espectaculares, que se escuchan perfectamente incluso en las últimas filas. La escenografía sorprende por su variedad y por la forma en que se realizan los cambios. Recomiendo ver este musical.

The story

Los Miserables sigue consagrándose como una joya del teatro musical con pocas obras que puedan compararse. La escenografía, la puesta, las actuaciones, la iluminación. Todo es extraordinario. Lo que es muy loco es que es difícil imaginársela ahora sin las pantallas que tanto le aportan a algunas escenas. Sería interesante poder volver al estreno original. La conocía en inglés y el elenco español la descosió toda. Solo debo decir que, como argentino (país que tiene sus propias traducciones) y conocedor de las letras en inglés, hubo un fan dentro de mí que prefiere otras versiones del texto. Así y todo, lloré, me reí y no pude más de admiración por lo que vi. Que vivan para siempre Los Miserables.
