Starlight Express

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Starlight Express is back after two decades to kick up a storm at the purpose-built Starlight Auditorium at Troubadour Wembley Park Theater.

Andrew Lloyd Webber's Starlight Express is returning with a fresh take from director Luke Sheppard (& Juliet, The Little Big Things). In Webber's Tony and Olivier-nominated masterpiece, trains come alive in a high-octane race for glory. Enjoy favorites like Pumping Iron and Only He (or Only You), alongside some exciting updates – including a feminist twist on a beloved song. This revival of Starlight Express holds a deeper meaning for Lloyd Webber, a heartfelt tribute to his late son whose childhood love of trains sparked the show's creation. Don't miss this chance to experience a timeless classic reimagined for a new generation!

The story

Rusty, a brave steam engine, finds himself locked in a high-stakes competition against Greaseball, a ruthless diesel spewing fumes of arrogance, and Electra, a sleek electric powerhouse. Their ultimate prize? The coveted affection of Pearl, a glamorous observation car. But amidst the screech of metal wheels and the roar of engines, a deeper question lingers: can a love story survive in a world obsessed with speed and victory? Will Rusty defy the odds and capture Pearl's heart? Book your tickets to Starlight Express in London and discover the answer for yourself.

on-stage energy was through the roof - which led to audience energy reciprocating. Saw the original version, which was why I wanted to see this ... different staging ... different times. Still extremely entertaining. My only complaint was that the company numbers were so loud that you couldn't really make out the voies or the lyrics.
