A Night at Wicked Some experiences you plan for weeks, and still they manage to surprise you. Seeing Wicked on Broadway was one of them. On our last evening in New York, the four of us walked the few blocks from our hotel through the Theater District, past the lights and the crowds, to the Gershwin Theatre. There's a particular energy on those streets before a show: people dressed up, families taking photos under the marquee, the sense that something special is about to happen. From the moment the lights went down, we were somewhere else entirely. The staging, the costumes and the sheer scale of the production were remarkable, but what stayed with me most was the story itself. Behind the green skin and the flying monkeys, Wicked is about friendship, about how easily people are judged by appearances, and about the courage it takes to stand by what you believe when everyone else is pointing the other way. When the first act closed with "Defying Gravity," the whole theatre seemed to hold its breath. It's one of those moments that you feel as much as you hear. Sharing it with my family made it even better. Watching our daughter completely absorbed in the story, and seeing that even our son, at nineteen, was won over, turned a great show into a memory we'll keep for a long time. It was the perfect way to close our week in New York.

My daughter is interested in musical theater and she was so excited to see! All the time, we enjoyed the show! Thank you so much for the wonderful time.

Based on the bestseller by Gregory Maguire and the fourth-longest-running Broadway show, Wicked delivers a fresh take on the classic Wizard of Oz tale.

Winner of 3 Tony Awards and a Grammy for its original cast album, this classic Broadway musical features work by composer-lyricist Stephen Schwartz and writer Winnie Holzman.

Explore themes of friendship, identity and power surrounded by lavish sets, daring vocals and Grammy-winning songs like “Defying Gravity,” “Popular”, and “For Good”.

Playing at the iconic Gershwin Theatre since October 2003, the musical has been entertaining audiences for more than 20 years. Book your tickets to Wicked on Broadway now!

The story

Meet Elphaba, born with emerald-green skin and extraordinary sorcery, and Glinda, bubbly and popular. They meet at school in the Land of Oz, strike up an unlikely friendship and then collide when ambition, power and prejudice intervene. As the shadow of the Wonderful Wizard looms, their bond is tested, and the world will never see the Witch of the West the same way again. Will Elphaba embrace the label “wicked”… or rewrite what it means altogether?

Critics reviews

“A roaring, high‐flying spectacle of a musical―sparkling, soulful and unashamedly magical.”

- The New York Times

“Wicked has the kind of show‐stopping ‘Defying Gravity’ moment that will give you goose-bumps and make theatre feel like pure wonder.”

- Variety
