Everything about this trip was absolutely extraordinary! The scenery was breathtaking, with views that truly left us speechless. The monasteries of Meteora, seemingly suspended between heaven and earth, are something you can hardly imagine exists until you see them with your own eyes. There is such a special, peaceful, and positive energy surrounding this place. Meteora is not just beautiful ,it is magical and unforgettable. It was truly one of the most amazing experiences of our trip, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Greece. ❤️🇬🇷

100% highlight of our trip! How in the world did they build those beautiful structures in the tops of those gorgeous mountains?! It seems like it should be one of the wonders of the world! I initially booked the tour at home, but after multiple airline delays, we didn't arrive in time. It was very easy to cancel the trip and receive a full refund. After arriving in Athens, we easily rebooked-- and we are so glad we did!

De reisleidster was archeoloog en kwam ook uit Meteora! Dus het was een heel unieke ervaring. De reis was goed georganiseerd, avondeten was ook op een mooie locatie. De kloosters zijn minder goed te bereiken voor mensen slecht ter been. Tip: haal inclusief lunch, dat scheelt veel gedoe op locatie.

Great guide in Clement. The trip was well organised with plenty of stop overs. The sights of Meteora were amazing. However, probably best to start tour at 7am to beat the summer heat. Bring a few bottles of water during summer. Bus driver John was great, got home safely.

La guida Freideriki é stata molto gentile, professionale. Ci ha spiegato tutte le cose e fatto attenzione ai punti salienti. Si é messa a disposizione per farci le foto. Abbiamo visitato due monasteri molto belli e ci siamo fermati in punti fotografici. Al ristorante non abbiamo mangiato benissimo... All'andata c'é stato un problema con l'aria condizionata del bus, l'autista l'ha risolto in tempi idonei, abbiamo fatto pranzo e siamo ripartiti dopo 45 minuti di ritardo. Ma nonostante questo abbiamo fatto una bella gita completa.

́La ponctualité des bus est extraordinaire ! Attention de ne pas traîner dans les boutiques ou pour manger :-). Les repas étant médiocres , on ne reste pas forcément à table longtemps ;-) Notre guide Maria était pétillante, accueillante et très professionnelle. Les monastères visités et les paysages sont à couper le souffle.

What to bring

Smartphone and earphones: Required to use the multilingual audio guide inside the monasteries.

Comfortable clothing and footwear: Wear closed-toe shoes with good grip for uneven paths and stairs. Men must wear long trousers, while women must wear long skirts and cover their shoulders to enter the monasteries.

Water and light snacks: Recommended, especially during the warmer months.

What's not allowed

Photography restrictions: Photography is not permitted inside churches or of monks and nuns.

Drones: Flying drones is prohibited without special permission.

Accessibility

Not wheelchair accessible: Most monasteries involve stairs or inclined paths. If you have limited mobility, St. Stephen's Monastery offers the easiest access with a paved path and minimal steps.

Additional information

Facilities: Toilets are available at larger monasteries, including Great Meteoron, Varlaam, and St. Stephen's, and may require a small tip.
