The whole process was quick and easy. While visiting the Castel, there seemed to be a surprise around every corner. .When you think it was the end, surprise! Another treasure to see. It was amazing!

The castle was interesting, however the audio guide doesn't work unless you have internet access, (the apps won't work without that) and there was only spotty WiFi around the Cafe area.

It is the most stunning building. Vast in scale! Views from the top were amazing! Staff was friendly and helpful.

Begin at either attraction. For Castel Sant’Angelo, show your ticket at Lungotevere Castello 50; for the Altar of the Fatherland, start at the tour operator’s office. At both sites, skip the ticket lines and proceed directly after a quick check-in.

Castel Sant’Angelo

Originally built as Emperor Hadrian’s mausoleum, Castel Sant’Angelo later served as a fortress, papal residence, and prison. This cylindrical monument offers a journey through centuries of Roman history.
