First time we have used an audio guide & both myself & my wife were extremely surprised at how easy & comfortable the audio guide was to use & to follow the prompts. We will definitely be looking for more tours around the world through Headout. Highly recommend this platform for trouble free entertainment & touring.

Everything was just as described! We didn't have to wait to the endless queue and everything went smoothly. Although we faced some issues with the audio guide yet we still had a great time!

Originally built as Emperor Hadrian’s mausoleum, Castel Sant’Angelo later served as a fortress, papal residence, and prison. This cylindrical monument offers a journey through centuries of Roman history.

Papal apartments and Sala Paolina: Explore rooms adorned with frescoes and stucco, including the Sala Paolina with paintings of Hadrian.

Angel Courtyard: See the original marble statue of Archangel Michael by Raffaello da Montelupo.

Historic prisons: Visit the Parlatoio, used for prisoner interrogations, and learn about notable inmates.

Rooftop terrace: Enjoy panoramic views of Rome and the bronze statue of Archangel Michael by Peter Anton von Verschaffelt.

Renaissance bastions: Discover the five bastions added for military defense during the Renaissance.

Altar of the Fatherland, Museum and Glass Elevator

The Altare della Patria is Italy’s largest national monument, known for its neoclassical grandeur and sweeping city views. Your visit includes the Museum of the Risorgimento and Palazzo Venezia.

Features:

Glass elevator to the terrace: Ride to the top for unobstructed views of the Roman Forum, Palatine Hill, and the Colosseum.

White marble facade and Corinthian columns: Admire the monument’s architectural scale and detail.

Equestrian statue of Victor Emmanuel II: See the centerpiece honoring Italy’s first king.

Museum of the Risorgimento: Explore artifacts, documents, and weapons from Italy’s unification.
