Our tour guide was on time, ready to go. The team gave us EarPods and the group was off! A native of Florence, our guide gave us information, anecdotes, and local lore. I now know why bread taste different in Florence! She kept us moving, stopping to give us time to take it in, entertaining the entire time. Worth every penny, this tour is the first thing we bring up when asked about our trip! Thank you HeadsUp!

Es difícil encontrar toures en español pero este ha sido muy bueno. Lázaro excelente guía y muy versado en la materia. Aunque es responsabilidad de cada uno de los que contratan el evento, es importante recalcar que la subida es bastante extenuante y de posible riesgo para personas con condiciones de salud no tan favorables. La verdad muy contento con el recorrido

Eduardo was great explaining everything during the tour, being comprehensive but never boring! We are very happy with the experience in Florence and strongly suggest everyone that is interested in the Santa Maria del Fiore "complex".

Anastasia our guide was very helpful , instructive and passionate about the information she gave us on the guided part of the talk. She also showed us where to access the other parts of the unguided tour. She was great. The views from the top of the Dome are beautiful and well worth all the steps. The church and baptistry were also amazing. The only reason I never gave 5 stars is because the whole tour is not explained properly on head out. They take you around the outside of the dome , inside the baptistry and the museum . You are then led to the Dome tower queue. From there you are on your own to use priority entrance for the church and crypt and the normal entrance to the bell tower. The building is amazing and definitely worth seeing.

The organization of the tour was good and as described, and access details worked as explained. The guide was fine, but nothing special and not terribly energetic or charismatic- it was very factual but I have had several more dynamic guides who really seemed excited about the topic and made the attraction come alive...

What to bring

A valid photo ID is required to collect your entry pass and audio devices (if applicable).

What’s not allowed

Please note that entry is subject to a dress code. Shoulders and knees must be covered, and sandals, hats, or sunglasses are not permitted inside.

Flash photography is prohibited inside all monuments.

Large bags and backpacks are not allowed inside the Complex. Please remember that there are no cloakrooms at the site.

Accessibility

Ramps available at the Cathedral, Baptistery, Museum, and Santa Reparata.

Dome and Bell Tower are not wheelchair accessible and are not recommended for visitors with limited mobility, heart, or back issues.

Certified guide dogs are allowed in all accessible areas.

Additional information

The Dome has 463 steps, and Giotto’s Bell Tower has 414, no elevators are available.

Children under the age of 7 are not allowed to climb the Dome or the Bell Tower. Those between the ages of 7-14 must be accompanied by an adult.

Dome and Bell Tower entries are self-guided.

Baptistery’s mosaic vaults are under restoration and not visible; it closes at 2pm on the first Sunday of each month.

The Opera del Duomo Museum is closed on the first Tuesday of every month.
