Pro tips to help you make a pick

Choose the canyon section that best suits your interests: the South Rim for iconic views, the North Rim for a quieter, more secluded experience, or the West Rim for unique activities like the Skywalk.

Plan your visit based on the adventure you’re seeking as well—whether it’s a helicopter tour, a rafting trip, a hummer ride, or another exciting activity, each area of the Grand Canyon offers something unique!

Before booking, check the physical requirements of your chosen tour. Helicopter and bus tours are great for all ages, while hiking and rafting require higher fitness levels. If accessibility and convenience are priorities, consider visiting the South Rim, which is more user-friendly.

For a hassle-free experience and great value, choose bus tours that often include meals, transportation, and stops at additional attractions like the Hoover Dam.

The entrance fees are $45 for the West Rim and $35 for Grand Canyon National Park. Most of the tours include the entry fee, but be sure to check the specific inclusions of each ticket.

Did you know?

The Grand Canyon is home to nearly 2,000 plant species, many found nowhere else on Earth.

The canyon is home to over 1,000 caves, but only about 335 have been explored and just one cave is open to the public for visits.

The Great Unconformity is a geological phenomenon at the canyon where 250-million-year-old rock layers sit atop 1.2-billion-year-old rocks, resulting in a gap of nearly 950 million years of missing geological history.

Within the canyon lies Supai Village, the most remote community in the continental United States, with a population of around 208 residents and accessible only by foot, helicopter, or mule.

Why visit Grand Canyon?

Mesmerizing views

Enjoy panoramic views of the Grand Canyon's vast landscapes from spots like Mather Point, the Skywalk, and Desert View. Marvel at the 277 miles of dramatic geological formations that have been sculpted over millions of years by the Colorado River.

Diverse outdoor activities

From helicopter tours to white-water rafting on the Colorado River, the park offers adventures for every type of traveler. While you’re there, don’t miss out on the hiking trails that cater to different fitness levels including the popular Rim Trail and Bright Angel Trail.

Year-round access

Whether you visit during summer or winter, the Grand Canyon is accessible throughout the year offering unforgettable experiences. Each season offers a unique view of the canyon — from snow-dusted landscapes in winter to wildflowers in spring.

Cultural and historical experience

The Grand Canyon has deep cultural roots, with Native American tribes including the Havasupai, Hualapai, and Ancestral Puebloans having lived in the area for thousands of years. You can explore ancient ruins and learn about the traditions of these tribes through cultural programs.

Geological wonder

Made up of layers of rock that span nearly 2 billion years, the Grand Canyon is a natural marvel that shows the Earth's evolutionary history. The exposed rock strata, such as the Vishnu Schist at the canyon's base, are among the oldest visible formations on the planet.

Highlights

Plan your visit

Grand Canyon National Park

Grand Canyon National Park features three main entrances: the South Entrance, East Entrance, and North Entrance, providing access to various park amenities and viewpoints. The South Entrance is the most popular and accessible year-round, while the North Entrance is open seasonally from mid-May to mid-October.

South Rim Entrance Station: Accessible via Highway 64 from Williams, Arizona.

East Entrance (Desert View): Located along Desert View Drive, accessible from Highway 64 near Cameron, Arizona.

North Rim Entrance: Accessible via Highway 67 from Jacob Lake, Arizona.

Grand Canyon South Rim

The South Rim is primarily accessed through the South Entrance, located near Tusayan, which is well-connected to major highways like Arizona State Route 64. This area is the most developed and visited part of the park, featuring numerous viewpoints, visitor services, and accommodations available throughout the year.

Main South Rim Entrance (South Entrance Station): Located 60 miles north of Williams, Arizona, via Highway 64.

Grand Canyon West Rim

The West Rim is not part of Grand Canyon National Park but is accessible via the Hualapai Reservation, requiring a separate entrance fee.

West Rim Entrance (Hualapai Ranch): Accessible from Las Vegas via US-93 and Pierce Ferry Road.

Grand Canyon East Rim

The East Rim can be accessed through the East Entrance near Cameron, which leads into Desert View Drive—a scenic route lined with overlooks and visitor points.

Desert View Entrance: Located at the eastern edge of the South Rim and accessed via Highway 64 near Cameron. While not a designated "East Rim" in the same way as other areas, this is the main entry point for visitors exploring the eastern side of the canyon.

Grand Canyon North Rim

The North Rim features its own entrance station that is open seasonally from mid-May to mid-October, making it less accessible than the South Rim.

North Rim Entrance Station: Located 30 miles south of Jacob Lake, Arizona, via Highway 67.

Overall experience was fantastic. Shuttle bus to and from the airfield made it easy. Snacks and champagne at the landing site were a nice addition to the tour. Most importantly our pilot, Doug was great. Very knowledgeable and descriptive, also very helpful and friendly and for me was the playlist. Not sure if it was his personal choice of tracks , or is it company's standard playlist for all the planes, but it did the job and worked perfectly with each stage of the flight
