Getting started

Please arrive 45 minutes before departure at the Pacific Whale Foundation Ocean Store in the Maʻalaea Harbor Shops. After check-in, the crew will provide a detailed safety briefing and ensure you are properly fitted with snorkel equipment. Once preparations are complete, you will board the raft and set out on an approximately five-hour adventure to two premier snorkeling locations.

What to expect

Molokini & Turtle Adventure by Raft

Travel by high-speed raft to Molokini Crater and Turtle Reef, two of Maui’s most sought-after snorkeling destinations. Depending on ocean conditions, you may drift along Molokini’s dramatic backside or explore blue-water areas, while onboard naturalists interpret the marine life and volcanic formations that make these sites unique.

What to bring

Pack a towel along with sunglasses, a hat, and a lightweight jacket to prepare for sun and sea breezes.

Bring reef-safe or mineral sunscreen to help protect the ocean ecosystem, noting that it can also be purchased onboard.

Choose flat or low-profile footwear for added stability on deck.

If you are 21 or older and plan to enjoy alcoholic beverages, you must present a valid photo ID.

Accessibility

This tour does not allow children younger than 7 years old.

Participation is not advised for pregnant guests.

Individuals with heart conditions or neck, back, knee, or mobility issues should not take part.

Non-swimmers are discouraged from joining this experience.

What’s not allowed

The use of full-face snorkel masks is prohibited.

Smoking and vaping are not allowed anywhere onboard the vessel.

For safety reasons, children may not ride on someone’s shoulders.

Guests must arrive 45 minutes before departure to check in at the Pacific Whale Foundation Ocean Store in the Maʻalaea Harbor Shops.

The excursion leaves from Maʻalaea aboard the Ocean Explorer.

All onboard purchases require a credit or debit card, as the vessel is cashless except for gratuities.

Two alcoholic beverages are included for guests aged 21 and over who present valid identification at the onboard bar.

Itineraries may change based on weather and ocean conditions, and humpback whales are present only during the seasonal months.

Safety instructions are delivered onboard, and participants must use the snorkel equipment provided by PacWhale.

Guests are encouraged to hold a railing while moving about the vessel and to drink plenty of water during the cruise.

Additional rentals, including wetsuit tops and binoculars, are available onboard for an extra fee.
