Strip away the extras and focus on desert driving and sandboarding. This half-day safari delivers dune bashing, sandboarding, and the Inland Sea—ideal if you want pure adrenaline or prefer to skip animal interactions. Your guide accompanies the convoy throughout.
Getting started
Hotel pickup or meet at National Museum metro station. Arrive 10 minutes early—convoys depart on schedule and late arrivals cannot be accommodated. The drive south to Mesaieed takes 45 minutes on Highway 56. Your guide explains the safari activities during the drive.
Dune bashing
Enter the Sealine dune corridor where your driver deflates tires to 15 PSI for sand traction. Dune bashing lasts 30 minutes. Your Land Cruiser climbs 40-meter faces, crests sharp ridges, and descends at angles up to 45 degrees. Tell your driver if you prefer gentler slopes—most accommodate requests. Sit in front if prone to motion sickness.
Sandboarding
Stop at a tall dune for sandboarding. Boards are provided. Guides demonstrate technique: feet shoulder-width, knees bent, lean back slightly. Most rides last 5-8 seconds down 20-meter slopes. Climb back up between runs—no lift system. This segment lasts 30 minutes with unlimited runs.
Khor Al Adaid (Inland Sea)
Drive 20 minutes deeper to Khor Al Adaid, where the Arabian Gulf extends 10km inland. This UNESCO-recognized reserve is one of only three places on Earth where sea meets desert directly. Dunes rise 40 meters around the brackish water. Photo stop lasts 15 minutes. Wade into shallow water or climb nearby dunes for aerial shots.
Refreshments
Return to the desert meeting point for local tea before the drive back to Doha.
Wrapping up
Return drive to Doha takes 50 minutes. Hotel pickup guests return to accommodation; meeting point guests drop at National Museum metro. Total tour time: 4 hours.
