While the port presents itself as a striking image of urbanization and development, it also, much like Venice, has a labyrinth of canals, inducing a feeling of medieval times. Hamburg owes much of its worldly character to the mighty Elbe, the river on which the port is situated.

From the historic and splendid red-brick warehouses of Speicherstadt to the architectural masterpieces of HafenCity, this is a place where history meets modernity. No other city in all of Europe has as many bridges as Hamburg does. Explore the numerous structures over water, canals, channels, busy locks and container terminals, the Köhlbrand Bridge, and much more on your one-hour cruise of the harbour. With immersive commentary provided by a live German tour guide, you will take home everything you need to know about this urban wonder's vibrant history! Also available is an audio guide with headsets which will impart knowledge in English, giving you interesting facts on Hamburg’s culture and significance.

Schedule

Each day, the barges and passenger ships depart about once an hour between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM from the St. Pauli Landing Stages.

Important Information

Note: If you want to cruise through the Speicherstadt, you should opt for the barge as the bridges in the Speicherstadt region are too low for the large passenger ships to get through.

Tours of the Speicherstadt (warehouse district) are subject to water level. It is not possible to cruise through the narrow waterways when the water is at a high or low level.

You need a smartphone to use the English audio guides. The free version of the app is available from the App Store and Google Play.

This tour is suitable for wheelchair-bound participants.
