Chenonceau Castle
A masterpiece of Renaissance architecture, Chenonceau is the second most-visited castle in France after Versailles, with an annual footfall of 1.3 million visitors. Pick up a multilingual visitor's guide and step inside to explore the Medici Gallery which spans the Cher River, the multitude unique collection of paintings, sculptures, and tapesteries, and the manicured gardens which have been maintained since the bygone years.
Chambord Castle
Built to serve as the king's hunting lodge, Chambord is the biggest castle in the Loire Valley—home to 400 rooms, 365 fireplaces, and da Vinci-inspired double helix staircase.
Amboise Castle
Built on a rocky spur overlooking the Loire River, this castle was a favored royal residence during the French Renaissance. Today, visitors go there not just for the panoramic views of the valley but also to pay homage to da Vinci's tomb which lies in the Chapel of Saint-Hubert.
Clos Luce Castle
Known for being the last residence of Leonardo da Vinci (1516-1519), who arrived at the castle on invitation from King Francis I, Clos Luce is a well-preserved example of Renaissance architecture. Chaumont-sur-Loire Castle
