This pass comes with a complimentary audio guide to fill you in on the town’s rich history dating back to the 8th century BC. In the center of the city is the Duomo Cathedral, the seat of the bishop of Volterra. After entering, tune in to the audio guide and learn fascinating facts about the cathedral’s 900-year-old history. After stepping out, you will find the 13th-century Baptistery of San Giovanni facing the Duomo. Its beautiful façade, adorned with horizontal bands of white and dark green marble makes it worth a visit. For the last stop during your visit to this Tuscan region, head to the Civil Hospital of Santa Maria Maddalena.

San Gimignano Pass

With this pass, enjoy access to the picturesque town of San Gimignano and some of its splendid palaces and medieval towers built in Gothic and Romanesque architecture. You can explore the town’s main attractions at your own pace over 2 days, with complete freedom to customize your own itinerary. Start by visiting the entire complex of the Civic Museums, comprising multiple attractions like the 13th-century Palazzo Communale. While there, head to the second floor for the Pinacoteca and lay your eyes on Filippino Lippi’s Annunciation among other stunning artworks by Benozzo Gozzoli, Benedetto da Maiano, and Pinturicchio. Next, ascend to the top of the Torre Grossa (Italian for 'big tower') and soak in the expansive views, including the rolling hills, from the height of 54 meters.

This ticket allows you to experience up-close the grandiosity of the cathedral, which is touted as one of the greatest monuments of Renaissance sculpture. It boasts the work of eminent Renaissance sculptors like Donatello, Nicola Pisano, Bernini, Lorenzo Ghiberti, and Michelangelo. Take your time to discover its ornate interiors before proceeding to the Piccolomini Library and walking under its magnificent ceiling. Head to your next destination at the Museo dell'Opera, which is Italy’s only private museum. Duccio di Buoninsegna's Maestà altarpiece is the crown jewel of this museum’s collection and deserves all the appreciation that comes its way.
