The museum is fantastic for kids. There is so much to discover and the kids (ages 5, 4 and 3) enjoyed the full day from 10 to 5pm. They loved the aquarium zone with sea urchins and stingrays. There were almost no lines and the cafe outside was quick and easy. The planetarium has a show called Tiny Chef. The kids and I had trouble understanding it due to the baby like language. I would have loved to see more planet related session. There was only one at 4:30pm which was a little late.

This was so cool loved all of it. My grandson lost his tooth during one of the shows and Eric came and took us to the staff only bathroom so he could wash up 😁

Honestly, the California Academy of Sciences is easily one of my favorite spots in the Bay Area. Located right in Golden Gate Park, it’s basically four world-class museums under one massive green roof. A few highlights that make it a must-visit: The Rainforest Dome: Walking through the four-story glass dome with free-flying tropical birds and butterflies all around you is just incredible. Steinhart Aquarium: The Philippine Coral Reef exhibit is spectacular, and seeing Claude the albino alligator is always a classic. Morrison Planetarium: The space shows on the massive dome screen are top-notch and super immersive. NightLife (Thursday Nights): If you're going with friends or on a date, the 21+ Thursday evening event is unbeatable—drinks, music, and exploring the exhibits without the huge daytime crowds. Bottom line: Tickets can be a bit on the pricier side, but given how much there is to see and do, it’s worth every penny. You easily need 3 to 4 hours to take it all in. Highly recommended!
