Paestum Archaeological Park

Paestum is one of the ancient world's best-kept secrets — a Greco-Roman city on the Campanian coast, home to three extraordinarily intact Doric temples built between the 6th and 5th centuries BC.

Features

• Temple of Neptune: The largest and most complete of the three temples, built around 450 BC and still standing nearly in full, with original columns and entablature intact.

• Temple of Ceres: The oldest structure on the site, dating to around 500 BC, used as a Christian church in the medieval period.

• The Basilica: A mid-6th-century BC temple dedicated to Hera, identifiable by its 18 original columns along each side.

National Archaeological Museum

Inside the onsite museum, you'll find artifacts recovered from the ancient city and surrounding sanctuaries: sculptures, reliefs, painted tomb slabs, and the Tomb of the Diver, a rare 5th-century BC Greek fresco considered one of the most important archaeological finds in Italy.
