The white dome of San Fruttuoso Abbey is visible from a distance, nestled amidst rocks and lush green trees. Dating back to the 10th century, the abbey is a testament to Ligurian architecture, bordered by the cyan sea. Charming Columns & Vintage Arches

Founded by the Order of Saint Benedict, the church harbors an octagonal church tower built with a Byzantine-style spherical top. As you stroll through the lower cloister of the abbey, discover the tombs of members of the noble Genoan Doria family from the 13th century. The tombs are sheltered under arches covered in black and white stripe patterns depicting historic Ligurian architecture.

Carved white columns line the paths leading to different sections of the church, and rooms with artifacts from centuries ago, preserved by the FAI, tell about the history of this place. Catch a glimpse of the Torre Doria, a watchtower erected in the 1500s to defend the abbey from pirates. Daily boats from Camogli (active all year) or from Recco, Portofino, Santa Margherita Ligure, Rapallo, Sestri Levante, Lavagna, Chiavari, and Genoa (seasonal service).
