Not such a smooth entry, because I had no wifi /data so couldn't show my ticket.... very helpful women on the gate sorted it out. I'd also downloaded the audioguide which again didn't work for me until they helped .... But my oh my, it really was BREATHTAKING, totally awesome!!! (I found the audioguide a little distracting, so wanted to walk around without it, but once I'd reached the end of the circuit, it was hard to go against the flow and start again) Feb visit - still quite busy! An amazing place, incredible atmosphere, I'm in awe of the brick/tile vaulting. Medusa heads are superb. Modern art installations are a nice touch. Later, I watched videos from the film 'Inferno' - which incldes a copy of the cistern for their set!

Reservar o ingresso sem fila foi a melhor decisão. Chegamos e entramos rapidamente, evitando uma fila enorme do lado de fora. A Cisterna da Basílica superou totalmente minhas expectativas. O ambiente é quase cinematográfico: luzes refletindo na água, fileiras de colunas antigas e uma atmosfera misteriosa que faz você imaginar a história de quase 1.500 anos daquele lugar. As cabeças de Medusa são um detalhe fascinante e único. Foi, sem dúvida, uma das experiências mais memoráveis da minha viagem a Istambul. Recomendo muito para quem visita a cidade. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

A wonderful experience of whirling dervish dance from an authentic group of artists in Istanbul. The entire experience was well laid out and explained in the start. The artists perform music for about 45 minutes while the actual dance lasts 20 minutes with a few breaks. I was in awe at the amount of stamina the artists must have to be able to keep whirling 50-100 turns continuously without feeling giddy. The experience for them is meant to take them close to God and nature. Whirling and chaotic - like the planets, wind, water etc.

La facilidad de sacar la entrada por la web, el ceso más rápido, el audio guía desde mi celular, para empezar. Las chicas que están en el ingreso son realmente maravillosas, son muy resolutivas Al ingresar la forma de iluminación de l cistern hace que se destaque la obra. El camino marcado por encima del agua, permite admirar toda la estructura, si bien había mucha gente, se podía mirar y detenerse libremente. Es una experiencia muy interesante para comprender también un poco de historia y detenerse arquitectura.

It was a really amazing and educational tour with wonderful information about the usage of Basilica Cistern over the years. As a greek visitor it had an extra depth beacause many things from hour histroy were displayed there and believed by the people of 7 centuries ago. I definitely suggest the audio tour and everything to do with it.

The site is partially accessible; there is a lift near the exit on Alemdar Street near the tram line, but the walking path inside may be uneven in places.

Wheelchair users may need assistance, especially around corners or where the lighting is low.

There are no elevators inside the cistern, and seating is extremely limited.
