• Late afternoon: Late afternoon offers golden facades and lively Nguyen Hue, but this is also when rain often arrives.
• Tour duration: Allow about 1h15 for the 1.8 km route at an easy pace, with time to pause as you like.
• Central Post Office: Enter freely during counter hours, typically 7am-7pm weekdays, shorter on weekends.
• Notre Dame Cathedral: Plan to view the cathedral from outside, as restoration has no confirmed end date.
• City Hall: Remember that City Hall is an active government office and is not open to walk-in visitors.
• Opera House lobby: Expect lobby access mainly in daytime, about 9am-4:30pm on weekdays and mornings at weekends.
• Cafe Apartment hours: Enter the Cafe Apartment for free, with most cafes open roughly 8am to 10pm.
• Cafe Apartment lift: Be aware the single lift charges a small fee, often credited against your cafe order.
• Residents at Cafe Apartment: Keep your voice low in corridors, as people still live in the building.
• Hotel Continental: Use the Continental's lobby or ground-floor restaurant as a cooling break for walk-in visitors.
• Nguyen Hue traffic: Walk in the central pedestrian mall and watch for traffic on the two side carriageways.
• Ben Thanh Market: Note that Ben Thanh Market is nearby but is not included as a stop on this route.
• Bach Dang promenade: Expect very little shade at Bach Dang, which can be punishing in the middle of the day.
• Bag safety: Carry your bag on the side away from the road to reduce the risk of motorbike bag snatching.
• Road crossing: Cross streets at a slow, steady, predictable pace, as road safety is generally poor.
