Fun experience! My daughter and I both are very scared of heights, but we were able to power through and get a great picture in the glass picture area. The area where you step out in it has a glass bottom top and sides. The staff was very nice. I didn't realize it, but as soon as I stepped out in the glass, I grabbed his arm for stability. He did not seem alarmed at all. I asked him if it was OK if I held onto him and he just chuckled and said of course. I wish I could remember his name. He was very kind. It was a fun experience.

My visit with Headout was special because everything was so easy and smooth from start to finish. SUMMIT One Vanderbilt was definitely one of the highlights of my New York trip! The experience is unlike a typical observation deck — from the moment you step inside, everything feels immersive, modern, and beautifully designed. The views of Manhattan are absolutely incredible, especially with the floor-to-ceiling glass windows giving you a completely unobstructed view of the city. The mirrored rooms were my favorite part, with reflections of the skyline creating some really fun and unique photo opportunities. ✨🏙️ I also loved how there were different spaces and levels to explore, so it didn’t feel like you were simply going up to a viewpoint and leaving. Every room had something different to see, and the combination of art, mirrors, glass, and the NYC skyline made the whole experience feel surreal. I’d recommend going around sunset if you can — watching the city transform from daylight to sparkling night views was beautiful. Definitely wear comfortable shoes since you’ll be walking around quite a bit, and bring sunglasses because some of the mirrored spaces can get surprisingly bright! Overall, such a fun experience and one I’d definitely recommend if you’re visiting New York for the first time.

I visited the Empire State Building 25 years ago on a high school field trip as a 16 year old kid from Ohio. Now as a parent myself of a 16-year-old child, I wanted to give my daughter the same breathtaking experience of seeing New York City from the world's most famous skyscraper, the Empire State Building! I was blown away by the updates. We loved walking through the second floor museum and there were many opportunities to take photos. We loved the picture opportunity with King Kong ! Also it was awesome to learn and see how the building was constructed in under 1 year back in 1930. Overall, it was well worth visiting again and we enjoyed every moment that we shared together on the observation deck of the 86th floor. Whether it's your first time or you're bringing your children for the first time it is something that you cannot miss out on experiencing. This is it, The Empire State building and there's nothing like it in the world!

What to bring

Bring sunglasses if you are visiting during the day, as the reflective surfaces create an extremely bright environment.

What’s not allowed

Large bags, backpacks, and luggage cannot be brought inside, and there are no storage facilities available on site.

Professional photography equipment is not permitted; only personal handheld devices may be used for photos.

Additional information

All bags and containers are subject to security screening upon entry.

Guests under 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Wear appropriate clothing to avoid unwanted reflections on mirrored and glass floors. Pants, shorts, tights, and flat shoes are recommended.

Choose comfortable footwear and avoid stilettos, steel-toe boots, sports cleats, or any shoes that could damage the floors.

What’s not allowed

Weapons of any type, including firearms and explosives, are strictly prohibited.

Glass containers, bottles, and marbles are not allowed anywhere on the premises.

Large bags, luggage, and oversized items cannot be brought inside.

Outside food is not permitted, and eating is not allowed in the Observatory or on the outdoor deck.

Tripods, professional camera equipment, and large gear are prohibited.

Pets are not allowed; only trained service animals may enter.

Accessibility

The Empire State Building is fully ADA accessible, with ramps, lowered viewing areas, and accessible binoculars.

Wheelchair-accessible restrooms are available on the 86th floor.

Service dogs are welcome throughout the attraction.

Both motorized and manual wheelchairs are permitted inside.

Guests visiting on Thanksgiving Day (Thursday, November 27, 2025) will receive special entry instructions in their confirmation email.

Reservations are mandatory, and tickets are valid only for the specific date and time selected at purchase.

Children under six can enter for free when accompanied by an adult ticket holder.

Refunds are not offered for weather conditions, wait times, or crowd levels.
