Das Prozedere, also Zusendung und Abholung der Tickets, verlief reibungslos. Dafür 5 Sterne! Allerdings ist eine Karte sinnvoll, um dann durch das Areal hindurchzufinden. Diese gibt es aber nicht kostenlos oder für kleines Geld dazu, sondern muss sie zusammen mit einem Reiseführer für 16,70€ erwerben. Das ist schon unverschämt! Deshalb nur 4 Sterne. Wir haben den Reiseführer samt Karte nicht gekauft, sondern diese bei jemandem abfotografiert und die Infos dann übers Netz eingeholt. Pompeji Anfang November ist ein Traum. Warm, tolles Licht (wir waren nachmittags da) und nicht voll!!!

The historic Pompeii is one for the books. Our whole family was in awe of everything we saw - the ruins, how the old buildings are still being excavated, the people who were buried in ash, the highest point of the whole already. That provided amazing views We really enjoyed and still talk about it even after a week from our visit (last Saturday).

The site is amazing and humbling. More information would be good without having to pay for a tour guide though. However as beautiful and clean the site is, when you sit on the walls near the cafe/restaurant the rubbish that lays on the floor over the wall is disgusting! Someone needs to pick this up!

Esperienza positiva, visitare gli scavi è stato molto suggestivo ed emozionante. Per via del poco tempo a disposizione, non sono riuscita a vedere tutto, sicuramente ritornerò.

Pompeii overall is worth a visit, especially if you know Italy is far from you, historically and architecturally it is amazing, so still worth it in my opinion, the only problem was actually this ticket on headout, this 'ticket' is actually a voucher for a ticket, me and my sister had to walk about 30 minutes from Pompeii Scavi station where we were told to get off for a 'quick entrance', we were then correctly told my staff that we had to walk quite a long away to pick up the ticket with this voucher, Headout just failed to specify anywhere that we had to do that, as a result we lost a lot of time

What to bring

Carry a valid photo ID, especially important for Pompeii ticket checks.

Wear comfortable walking shoes, as paths at both sites can be uneven.

Pack water, sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen), as most areas are exposed.

The sites remain open in all weather, so consider bringing a light rain jacket or umbrella.

What’s not allowed

Large backpacks, suitcases, and bulky luggage cannot be taken into either site.

Note that Herculaneum does not offer storage, while Pompeii has a cloakroom at the Superiore entrance.

No pets are permitted, except registered service/guide animals.

Smoking, alcohol, and prohibited substances are not allowed anywhere on-site.

Flash, tripods, and professional filming equipment may be limited in certain areas.

Accessibility

Terrain at both sites can be difficult and uneven, with partial accessibility for wheelchair users.

Those with reduced mobility may find some sections challenging.

Herculaneum includes some ramp-accessible areas, though not the entire site.

Accessible restrooms are available at both Pompeii and Herculaneum.

Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.

Certain paths or areas may temporarily close due to ongoing conservation work.

15 Oct to 15 March: 8:30am to 5pm (last entry 3:30pm)

16 March to 14 Oct: 8:30am to 7:30pm (last entry 6pm)

Free admission on the first Sunday of each month and select public holidays.

Discounted tickets are available for eligible visitors with valid documentation.

Pompeii

Make sure the names on your booking match your ID to avoid issues at entry.

Entry is free for visitors with disabilities and one accompanying person (processed on-site).

Children under 18 can enter free with a valid ID.

Reduced pricing is available for EU residents aged 18–24 and for non-EU residents who hold Italian residence permits.

Free entry is also offered on the first Sunday of each month.

Please show your ticket along with a valid photo ID to redeem your mobile ticket for a paper ticket.
