Begin with pick-up from your hotel within Fairbanks city limits, where your driver gathers the group for the journey to Chena Hot Springs. Settle into the vehicle as your round-trip transportation take you out of Fairbanks toward the resort. On arrival, you will move straight into your guided schedule according to the daytime or evening option you selected.

What to expect

Chena Hot Springs

Chena Hot Springs is a resort built around natural mineral springs, set in Alaska's subarctic environment. Your time here centers on soaking, exploring, and learning how the site uses geothermal resources.

Features

• Access to Chena Hot Springs is included, so you can use the hot springs facilities during your visit in line with resort guidelines. Children under 18 are not permitted to go into the outdoor rock pool but can use the indoor pool under adult supervision.

• The outdoor rock pool can reach temperatures of up to 106°F (41°C), which is not recommended if you have heart conditions or other heat-sensitive medical concerns, and there is no lifeguard on duty so you enter at your own risk.

• A geothermal energy tour is part of your visit, giving you a closer look at how the resort uses geothermal resources in this subarctic setting.

Aurora Ice Museum

The Aurora Ice Museum at Chena Hot Springs showcases ice art in a controlled indoor environment. It forms a key part of both the daytime guided itinerary and the evening visit.

• Entry to the Aurora Ice Museum is included, so you can walk through the ice displays as part of your guided time at the resort.

• Your guided time inside the Aurora Ice Museum is built into the daytime guided itinerary at Chena Hot Springs and Aurora Ice Museum if you select the day option.

• Drinks at the ice bar are available as an optional extra for guests aged 21 and over, and towels are not provided so you may want to bring your own for use at the hot springs.

Northern Lights viewing segment

For the evening option, your experience includes a focused period dedicated to seeing the aurora when conditions allow. This Northern Lights segment happens after you have spent time at the hot springs.

• A Northern Lights viewing segment is included with the Evening Guided Tour with Aurora Viewing and Hot Springs, giving you structured time to look for auroral activity.

• Warm, layered clothing and insulated winter boots or other weather-appropriate footwear are recommended during the Northern Lights viewing segment, since you will be exposed to subarctic temperatures.

• A minimum of 4 guests is required for this tour to operate, and pets are not permitted on this tour at any point.

Round-trip transportation

Your journey between Fairbanks and Chena Hot Springs is part of the guided tour structure. This segment frames the start and end of your experience.

Features

• Round-trip transportation from hotels within Fairbanks city limits are included, and pick-up and drop-off from Airbnb accommodations are not included unless you arrange alternatives directly with the operator.

• Pick-ups commence between 9:00 am and 9:30 am for the applicable option, so you should be ready in the hotel lobby during this window.

• Food and drinks, including lunch at the resort restaurant, are not included in the tour price and can be purchased separately during your free time at the resort.

Wrapping up

At the end of your chosen daytime guided itinerary or evening Northern Lights viewing segment, you will rejoin your vehicle at Chena Hot Springs for the return drive, ending with drop-off at your hotel within Fairbanks city limits.
