Even so the trip from Barcelona was long, the experiece is worth it. The landscape that rack railway train offer you, is trully breath taking not to metion the surroundings around the monestery which give a trully iconic beauty to this place. The access to in the Basilica and to the La Moreneta was smooth without any difficulties.

What I loved most about the Montserrat tour was the breathtaking scenery. The mountains, the monastery, and the peaceful atmosphere made the whole experience feel really special. I also loved learning about the history and culture of the place—it was such a memorable day

Was even zoeken naar de bus op het grote busstation. Uiteindelijk bleek dat we binnen een kaartje moesten halen bij een balie die niets met Headout van doen heeft, maar wel met een wijnproeverij. Was niet doorgegeven. Vervoer en reisleiders waren verder top. Montserrat ook. Indrukwekkend.

Wir sind mit der Regionalbahn vom Placa Espanya und dann mit der Zahnradbahn hoch zur Klosteranlage gefahren. Dabei ist es wichtig diesen Voucher am eigens dafür eingerichteten Touristenschalter am Bahnsteig unterste Ebene in ein gültiges Ticket kostenlos zu tauschen. Die nette Mitarbheiterin hat uns dann eine Ebene höher zum entsprechenden Bahnsteig geschickt. Ist nicht ganz einfach, deshalb rechtzeitig am Bahnhof erscheinen, da der Zug / Zahnradbahn nur stündlich fährt. Für den AudioGuide und Infomaterial zuerst bei der Tourist-Info vorbeischauen, die Mitarbeiterin war äußerst nett und zuvorkommend, denn aufgrund der vielen verschieden Möglichkeiten ist jeder Hinweis wichtig. Wir hatten mit Escolania-Chor gebucht. Es war sehr voll, auch da wieder, rechtzeitig in der Basilika sichert die besten Sitzplätze. Der Auftritt war sehr schön und bewegend und den Aufpreis wert. Danach die Warteschlange zur schwarzen Madonna, dann mit der oberen Zahnradbahn hoch zum Gipfel. Dort gibts einen Rundweg, aber die beste Aussicht war eigentlich in dieser steilen Bergbahn. Es gibt in der Klosteranlage ein preiswertes Bistro mit Selbstbedienung und einen halbschattigen Weg zur Aussichtsplatform, den man auf jedem Fall nutzen sollte, denn die Aussicht ist phänomenal. Im Ganzen ein anstrengender aber lohnenswerter Ausflug in die Berge, wenn man gut zu Fuß ist und sein eigenes Tempo und Zeitmanagment bevorzugt.

All worked well. I booked too early so learnt from that. Got off train in wrong spot and paid extra to go on gondola. Once at the monastery there was a good explanation of choices and audio guide that worked.

Getting started

Start your journey at FGC Plaça Espanya in Barcelona, where your tickets will be validated. Then, board the R5 line using the train ticket included in your pass. On arrival at Monistrol de Montserrat, switch to the rack railway for a stunning uphill ride to the monastery.
