Visited with my boyfriend and we loved it! The abbey is stunning. Go early for less crowds. We got a pastry and just sat watching the tide come in. Magical.

Went solo and felt totally safe the whole time. Met a few other travelers on the shuttle over. The climb up is no joke but the payoff is insane—the view is UNREAL. Didn’t really eat at the restaurants, just grabbed a pastry. The abbey itself is so peaceful even with crowds.

Went last Sunday with my sister and wow, Mont Saint Michel is just—magical??? The walk from the shuttle is longer than you think, so wear decent shoes. Weather was gray but honestly made the abbey look even more EPIC. We spent like half the time gawking at the views. Only bummer—sooo many people, felt like we were in a parade at times. Still, totally worth it!

What a place! The walk from the shuttle is longer than you think but it’s worth it. We stayed for sunset and the photos turned out EPIC. Would go again.

What to bring

It is recommended to wear comfortable shoes as there is lots of walking on the cobblestone roads and to carry warm clothing in the winter.

What's not allowed

Keep in mind that carrier bags, knives, and scooters are not allowed on this experience.

Access to the Abbey is not allowed with suitcases or large hiking bags. Small bags (smaller than cabin size) are accepted.

Accessibility

The site is challenging for visitors with reduced mobility, but assistance devices and adapted tour options are available. However, some areas may still be difficult to access despite these accommodations.

Guide dogs and assistance dogs are allowed inside the monument. However, other pets are not allowed.

Additional information

Please note the guided tour takes place only for the city. An audio guide app will be provided for you to explore the Abbey.

The attraction can be crowded, with wait times of up to an hour expected.

Free admission is available on European Heritage Days (third weekend of September) and on the first Sunday of each month from November to March.

The last admission to the Abbey is 1 hour before closing time (7pm from May to August and 6pm from September to April).
