What an incredible performance! I enjoyed every second of it. This was my very first musical experience in London, and I’m absolutely overwhelmed with happiness by what I experienced. Best regards, A tourist from Finland

loved the dancing, loved the music!! Honestly, I was a bit skeptical at first. turning Trainspotting into a musical sounded like a crazy idea. But it actually blew me away It’s definitely not your typical feel good West End show. It’s loud, raw, and just as intense and dark as you’d expect from Irvine Welsh, but the music works insanely well. The songs don't make it soft at all, if anything, they make the heavy parts hit even harder and the iconic moments feel massive. Renton is brilliant and Begbie is genuinely terrifying live on stage. despite how dark it gets, the Scottish humor is still hilarious and had the whole crowd laughing. If you like the book or the movie, you have to see this. It’s wild, chaotic, and an absolute blast from start to finish!

Based on Irvine Welsh’s cult novel and the hit film, this play throws you into the wild world of 1980s Edinburgh’s underground scene.

A smash hit at the Edinburgh Fringe and London, the show’s immersive staging and raw performances have earned rave reviews from critics and fans alike.

Gritty themes of addiction, friendship, and survival unfold in a production that blurs the line between audience and action—book Trainspotting tickets for a night you won’t forget.

Expect bold staging, pulsating music, and a no-holds-barred approach at Theatre Royal Haymarket—this is not your typical night at the theater.

The story

Set in late-1980s Edinburgh, a group of friends led by Mark Renton navigate the highs and lows of youth, addiction, and rebellion. The play dives headfirst into their chaotic lives, exploring the bonds and betrayals that define them. As their choices spiral out of control, the line between euphoria and despair blurs—leaving you wondering who, if anyone, will make it out unscathed.

Trainspotting the musical. What can I say... I've had a few problems with understanding dialogue but still understood more then Americans seating behind me. Music choices and inclusion of dancing numbers felt like run time exercise not artistic choice to deepen the story on stage. Spud actor was GREAT. Plot based on the book a lot more than movie was. It's a miss fire but I'm glad I've seen it. If it was a students play I would have been impressed. But considering it was produced by West End professionals it's a missed opportunity at best.
