持续时间
Savour a dark comedy that features the immensely popular Daniel Radcliffe from the Harry Potter series in the lead role! Accompanied by the accomplished Alan Cumming, this revival of Samuel Beckett’s original play is certain to be a hit at the Old Vic Theatre this season.
Endgame is directed by Richard Jones from the Into the Woods and The Hairy Ape fame. He brings back all the eerie comical moments of the original piece in an irresistibly masterful fashion that makes full use of the acting prowess of its star-studded cast. With Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter, The Woman in Black) starring as Clov and Alan Cumming (Emma, Spy Kids, Golden Eye) taking up the role of Hamm, this double bill is primed to score rave reviews in London.
While Radcliffe’s exploits in the Harry Potter series are well known, he has also played various roles in theatrical pieces at both Broadway and West End. The Scottish-American Alan Cumming is a Tony Award-winning actor whose performances in Cabaret and The Good Wife earned him critical acclaim and awards. He is widely known for playing Nightcrawler in X2: X-Men United, Loki in the Son of the Mask, and Sir Rolan in Garfield the Movie.
The Story
Endgame follows the story of Hamm, a blind, old, tyrant who is conversing with his servant Clov. The room is empty and bleak, reflecting the state of Hamm’s deteriorating health. Hamm muses about his younger days and is only interrupted at times by the nostalgic remarks of his elderly parents - Nell and Nagg. This is followed by Beckett’s somewhat rarely-staged Rough For Theatre II, another open-ended dark comedy about the sombre tendencies and fragility of a mind subjected to constant suffering and accusation.
