Despite living in Edinburgh for 30 years from birth, I had never visited inside of Palace of Holyroodhouse. Some of the Roual household were in residence at that time. An opportunity arose when living in the south of England to take my partner to Edinburgh to visit both the tattoo and Hollywood Palace. I thoroughly enjoyed the occasion, knowing much of the Scottish heritage, and my partner also enjoyed the experience so much that she would like to visit again, which we will do. Guides on every level were knowledgeable and helpful together with the handheld description of every room. A great experience, not to be missed.

Unser Guide war mit soviel Herzblut dabei, als Weins durch die Privaträume führte, das war sensationell. Und auch der Audio Guide für die anschließende "Standard Führung " durch Holyroodhouse war der beste den ich je erlebt habe. Nicht zu lang und nicht zu kurz, interessant erzählt und auch interaktive Parts. Großes Kompliment an die Macher! Beide Führungen sind sehr zu empfehlen!!! Und der Service der Mitarbeiter vor Ort ist beeindruckend! Freundlich, hilfsbereit, professionell, kompetent, engagiert....

Self guided tour was excellent. We had our tickets and were ready to go when we arrived. The listening devices were great very easy to follow. You could take your time. See the things you want. Skip the things you don't it made for a delightful tour. Having a window in which to arrive was also great because if our day got a little out of control, we had room nine till four to make it one of our other tours. We had to miss because we couldn't be there.

Book g woz esey with no que the headphone and journey though each and every room woz both interesting with so much to see and learn beutiful portraits in every room esp enjoyed the little gift shop inside managed to find small gifts for the grandchilden the abbey woz very beutiful and gardens with a reward of cake and coffie in the palace cake highly recommended

Fabulous house & gardens. Loved listening to the audio with all the history of each room. It was fun looking for the footprint in the picture, learning about how he used prisoners' faces used in his portraits. Staff really helpful and friendly. Good value for tickets. Would definitely visit again when I visit Edinburgh.

It was an extremely interesting tour and being able to see parts of the private apartments was a special privilege. Our tour guide (Jorge) was very knowledgeable and made the tour informative as well as fun. All of the staff were friendly and helpful and the tour was very well organized.

Tour guide was very knowledgeable. Very nice tour in a small group for the private rooms of Queen Elizabeth ll. Everyone was able to ask questions and receive answers. Once in a life Time opportunity, would recommend not to miss this tour. The Grounds of Holybroodhouse are amazing! I was very impressed and now have fantastic memories of this incredible place.

The palace is a beautiful counterpoint to the ruggedness of Edinburgh Castle. The history is well presented and the comments from the Royal Fsmily add perspective.

Best £50 I've ever spent. The tour was well paced with an enthusiastic guide. He had lots of information regarding the rooms and personal stories about the royal family. I was able to see Queen Elizabeth's dressing room and sitting room - she had a pink sofa! The corgi's bowls and puppy wee stains on the floor really added to the experience, as if she had just stepped out of the door. It was very emotional to see the late Queen and Prince Phillip's personal belongings in every room. We weren't able to take photographs which I fully understanded. This again added to the experience though as people were listening and taking it all in rather than focussing on photos. A wonderful experience that I would recommend to any royalist.

We had initial confusion about where to check in but one of the persons manning an entrance gave us the correct information for entering. We were efficiently taken to our tour by several staffers where we joined the group. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and spoke clearly and with sufficient volume for all to hear him easily. He pointed out the highlights and background information of the contents of each room. We had sufficient time to look at the many items as the group moved to the next room. It was a great treat to be in the Queen's apartment and to see Prince Phillip's artwork and the life of the Queen when in residence at Holyroodhouse. This tour should not be missed.

We were in Edinburgh for the Military Tattoo and found out about this special Queen Elizabeth II Private Apartments tour at Hollyroodhouse. On the year that she would celebrate her 100th birthday, King Charles III granted a special access to her private apartments for 100 days one time only. It was really a treat. The guide was very knowledgeable and talked about intimate details of the life of the Queen in the House when she was visiting. The furniture and decorations were impeccable. The stories behind every room even more interesting. Together with Balmoral it was one her favorite places to stay. I hope that will be repeated one day.

You may be subject to security checks. Some items may have to be checked in and reclaimed at the end of your visit.

For safety and security reasons, a one-way route operates inside the Palace of Holyroodhouse.

The palace is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Last admission is at 3:15pm from November to March and at 4:30pm from April to October.

Under 5s must be booked with a paid ticket.
